The song of Rivers by Jackie was filmed on the flats of the South Side of Pittsburgh near the old steel mills long gone . Mostly true. Most scenes were filmed in Braddock. However, the ending of the video was filmed on Herrs Island North Park, in the Allegheny River north (upstream) of downtown Pittsburgh. The stone wall there is a "barge fender" or "shipping fender". www.google.com/maps/place/Herrs+Island/@40.4700799,-79.9741454,716m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x8834f3b9c9754369:0x339b5d441f73bb0d!2sHerrs+Island!3b1!8m2!3d40.4644031!4d-79.9773187!3m4!1s0x8834f3b9c9754369:0x339b5d441f73bb0d!8m2!3d40.4644031!4d-79.9773187

Here are some of the Braddock locations seen in the "River" video, including the Holliday Memorial AME Zion Church at 198 6th Street, the storefront with a sign that says "STEEL" at 630 Braddock Avenue, and the Braddock Junior High School at 712 Washington Ave. www.google.com/maps/@40.3992623,-79.8684124,3a,75y,220.68h,86.08t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sciHxVoivPd3GlbBLxixGlg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 www.google.com/maps/@40.4018255,-79.8703467,3a,75y,140.49h,103.44t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sj_1MQ1mm54maiWAf9Yk4_w!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo1.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3Dj_1MQ1mm54maiWAf9Yk4_w%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D178.2668%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656 www.google.com/maps/@40.4026389,-79.8677188,3a,75y,104.78h,98.36t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sxB_ZcxOWcC_FpGs_6_DK8A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 www.google.com/maps/@40.4000672,-79.8695094,3a,75y,46.95h,102t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sVvI-cqHlnGNjJUM5nRX-Ew!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 www.google.com/maps/@40.4000672,-79.8695094,3a,75y,38.15h,93.91t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sVvI-cqHlnGNjJUM5nRX-Ew!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DVvI-cqHlnGNjJUM5nRX-Ew%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D317.5796%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656

the Braddock expedition, also called Braddock's campaign or (more commonly) Braddock's Defeat, was a failed British military expedition which attempted to capture the French Fort Duquesne (now Downtown Pittsburgh) in the summer of 1755, during the French and Indian War. It was defeated at the Battle of the Monongahela on July 9, and the survivors retreated. The expedition takes its name from General Edward Braddock, who led the British forces and died in the effort. Braddock's defeat was a major setback for the British in the early stages of the war with France and has been described as one of the most disastrous defeats for the British in the 18th century.[3]

History Gibsonia was named in honor of the Gibson family who settled the area; their original house was demolished in December 2019. The early history of Gibsonia is, naturally enough, interwoven with the history of the Gibson family. About the time of the Civil War, Charles Gibson, Jr., built the first steam flour mill west of the Alleghenies on Grubbs Road. His granddaughter, Nancy Gibson James, recalls hearing her uncle tell of the farmers riding to the mill with sacks of grain across the saddles. The Gibson family homestead was built by her grandfather, Charles Gibson, Jr., in 1839. Just below the former site of the home, near the railroad crossing, still remains the foundation of Charles Gibson's general store. This building, destroyed by fire in 1908, besides housing the store was also the first post office in Gibsonia. For about ten years before it burned it was in use as a mission of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.[3]
