The FDA Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee October 22, 2020 Meeting Presentation contains a draft "working list of possible adverse event outcomes." Noting that the list is "subject to change", the FDA lists the following possible adverse effects of COVID-19 vaccines.

Those are fairly likely (some evidence that there's frequently a degree of damage even in "minor" cases).

Contrast that with a shopping list of everything ever imagined (not necessarily seen, or at any rate not necessarily proven to be CAUSED by) in association with any vaccine ever given - and IF they happen, typically in the range of one in millions or tens of millions or less, not 0.3% to 1% depending on age (COVID-19 fatality rates - most do have underlying conditions, as far as that goes) or higher for damage (2.3% 12 weeks or longer).

Since initial supplies are small, health-care workers and long-term care residents are getting it first. Best odds IMO are simply not to be first in line, but wait and see a little. Unless you're in one of those two groups, you won't even have a choice, you'll have to wait awhile.

Nobody (except those in the military, probably) will be required to get vaccinated...but their employer can fire them if they don't. That's fair, don't want a nut job sicko freak traitor to the ChiCom disease (aka some crazed anti-vaxxer whose brain has probably ALREADY been damaged) hanging around real people doing real work.

That doesn't mean governments giving orders are good. People should be sensible for their own benefit and/or that of those they care about (but NOT for "society" or "everybody", which is just an excuse for abuse of power), but NOBODY should command free people.

Offer advice, ok - especially with some explanation when it changes (not to say it can't change, hopefully it DOES change as new things are learned). But there's a huge difference between PSAs and issuing orders.

A couple weeks after the 2nd shot (for the ones that require two), one should have MUCH better odds of not catching COVID-19, or at any rate, of remaining symptom-free (AFAIK, it's not yet known whether a vaccinated person just won't experience the sickness, or won't be a carrier, either).

But NOTHING (other than death and taxes, traditionally) is 100% certain. And both since it isn't, AND because we don't know yet whether a vaccinated person can be a carrier, I wouldn't expect the masks and other (maybe, maybe not) BS to go away until AFTER the infection rates drop dramatically. Which according to the current view, requires 2/3 or more to have immunity, whether from the vaccine or from having had the disease. And considering that surveys suggest that more than 1/3 don't WANT the vaccine, that could be a problem (and an excuse for abuse of power that never stops giving, too).

Still, I'm all in favor of lots of Darwin Awards. Fools don't have a right to be parasites on the rest of us.

Yet there are a few (and not just relatives or close friends) that I would still worry about. Not EVERYBODY, I don't know everybody and don't want to. But a few, enough for me. The rest are for others to worry about. Or not.
