You should go to the experts at CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html). They recommend that everybody wears masks, but NOT medical masks, which should be reserved for the medical community. "Do you wear a mask?" Yes, I do. Bingo. I'm not going to bother researching it, but I'm not aware of any contagious diseases or viruses where masks are prohibited because they're dangerous. They're worn in hospitals all the time around contagious patients. Patients with things like TB are kept in isolation and anyone entering the room wears a mask to protect themselves. When the patient must be moved out of isolation to go for tests that can't be performed in their room, THEY wear a mask to protect others. And now we're being told, like anyone with a brain already knew, that masks protect ourselves and protect others. |

You have a certain persistence at repeating propaganda, but clearly if you were supposed to think for yourself, Fauci would have told you so. :-) * edit: and there are people who even if not medical or first responders, HAVE had training in how to use masks that make an N95 look downright wimpy. Like most people with former military service. :-) Some of whom actually have one of those (but we'd have to wear a cloth mask over the exit vent, or someone might panic that it wasn't protecting them - which is silly, because if I were being THAT careful, I probably wouldn't be a carrier anyway). I don't wear it in public much, mostly because I don't want to use up all my filters, and because I don't want to scare people or have them wondering whether I was planning to join a riot somewhere. |

Luckily for me, that's your problem, not mine. I am in favor of banning drunk driving and smoking in enclosed spaces. I have no problem with banning drunk driving, although a wise driver would never assume any other driver on the road was sober, competent, sane, or even non-homicidal. I have no problem with banning smoking in SOME enclosed places; but it IS possible to have adequate ventilation or separately ventilated spaces, such that those in them are mostly choosing their risk. Let only smoking employees serve in those spaces, if that helps. A lot of the impetus behind the excesses of the ban is not so much safety as it is that the offended (yes, it stinks if you're not a smoker) got power under the guise of safety. Bottom line is that your safety (and that of your minor dependents, if any) is YOUR responsibility, not government's. They won't be around in time to PREVENT most of the drunk driver caused fatalities, etc. But I'd kind of prefer the wild west, where anyone might take a shot at you just because they feel like it. Not that I'd like to see more of that, but I'd prefer that level of freedom even if that was sometimes the consequence - we have those consequences now anyway, without the freedom. Even with zero legal private firearms, it'd be knives, bats, bricks, etc - you can't ban everything, and some percentage of people are just like that. So for goodness sake, LET ME SHOOT BACK! |
