Maddie and Derek have been friends since at least September 2014 when Maddie and Sia performed "Chandelier" live on Dancing With Stars.

In June 2015, when she appeared on DWTS the second time to dance while Josh Groban sang "Over The Rainbow", she showed Derek how to do one of her most popular moves from the Chandelier dance.

In August 2016, Maddie and Julianne Hough posed for photographers at the Industry Dance Awards (where Maddie received the award for "Breakthrough Performer") and Derek decided to photobomb them by dancing through their shot while taking a selfie.  I've seen a hilarious video clip of this but I can't locate it right now.

Earlier this month, Derek announced a new solo tour, beginning on April 5, 2019, with performances in 60 cities. The shows will feature live musicians on stage. There's a video interview in this article. He said there may be surprise guest performers at some of the tour dates.

Frances Nicole Real : I also looked for that photobombing video of Derek potobombing Maddie and his sister Julianne Hough but couldn't find it. I believe it was at the Dizzy Feet Gala possible while Maddie was a judge on SYTYCD.

Looks like Stephanie Mincone did real good after she was Maddie's double. Now she is a backup dancer for Sia, Derek Hough, and now Taylor Swift.

Derek Hough is up against Maddie Zieger for Choice Dancer, I know Maddie beat him once or twice for the title but I think Derek Hough has became more popular since than. My money is on Maddie still for two reasons. Maddie has as many follower as the rest of the Nominations combined and now that none of the Dance moms girls including Chloe Lukasiak is in it she should get the entire DM fandom voting for her and not splitting the vote.

Maddie on the 60th Disney anniversary was one of the reasons given why she quit dance moms. Melissa said because if the time constraints of doing the DM show Maddie had to turn down doing other things for Disney's 60th anniversary.

When Maddie Ziegler danced on DWTS with Josh Groban they gave her equal time plus her own 30s improve.

The two back up dancer for Maddie were Brynn Rumfallo and Jaycee Wilkins. Both were the top dancers in their age group. Brynn Rumfallo went on to become one of the Dance Moms Girls and Jaycee Wilkins destroyed her hip and was lucky to walk again. The both were on AGT much earlier as part of the Fresh Faces Team.

A few months after the performance on DWTS, Jaycee Wilkins was diagnosed with Perthes disease. She lives with her family in Mesa, AZ, but after her diagnosis, her family moved to Florida and then to Portugal so that she could get the treatment she needed to have a chance at recovery.

"For about a year, I experienced an annoying pain in my hip, on and off. I didn't think it was that big of a deal—all dancers have pain, and my mom and I just assumed it was in the soft tissue, or muscular. I did physical therapy and it helped, so I kept dancing. But it kept coming back. By October 2015, the pain was constant and so bad I couldn't dance at all. I knew something was wrong.
"After seeing an orthopedic surgeon, I was diagnosed with Perthes disease. Perthes disease is a childhood disease that occurs when the blood flow to the femur bone is mysteriously cut off. The bone starts to die, and eventually collapses. I was shocked. Never in a million years would I have thought my bone was collapsing. Perthes disease is very rare—especially rare in teenage girls—and there weren't any surgeons in Arizona who were willing to treat it aggressively. They all just wanted to let the disease run its course. My mom decided that wasn't good enough."

Her instagram has photos from the period of time she was undergoing treatment. Her recent photos show that she's enjoying life fully with a bright exuberant spirit.

Chloe Lukasiak just put out a room tour of her apartment in L.A it must be a new amartment as she was sharing one with friends. Like Maddie she still has a large house in Pittsburgh.

Richard, yes, thank you for the correction.  It was at the Dizzy Feet Foundation gala on September 10, 2016. Maddie and Travis Wall performed the same dance that they had performed on So You Think You Can Dance.  Maddie was on tour with Sia at that time, but the concerts at the Hollywood Bowl were on the two nights prior to the night of the gala, so she was in LA and able to attend.

The Industry Dance Awards was on August 17, 2016.  That was where Kenzie made the presentation to Maddie when she received the Breakthrough Performer award.

 I have to correct myself again.  The Dizzy Feet gala was on September 10, 2016, while Maddie was a judge on SYTYCD (as you said).  The tour with Sia began on September 29, 2016.  The Hollywood Bowl concerts were on October 8 & 9 (not September 8 & 9).

Frances Nicole That was actually shot the day before Maddie said it took them several hours just to get into costume.
Travis also Choreographed her on pretty little liars.

I think this tell just how closely Maddie works with her managers.

“Maddie is represented by the same agency that I am,” said executive producer Oliver Goldstick, who co-wrote the episode with Maya Goldsmith. “They called me last year toward the end of the season and said, ‘Can you put Maddie in it? Maddie’s a huge fan of the show.'”

They must have spent a small fortune just for those few minutes building an entire set and getting Travis Walls.
