I agree with her...I have watched no more than the first two intro minutes...there are many who have never watched this kitsch series..but like the musical especially the master talent shown by Barlow and Bear. As it seems ...Emily and Abigail have not watched a second of Season 2 so far...according to the recent Today Show interview. But I also don‘t care if Grace likes the musical or not...Abigail and Emily have both more talent in their pinky than all the Graces etc. combined. Btw. the Star Girl movie was a lame movie IMHO , totally boring script, horrible acting...but there are other people who like it... But in reality no ine takes MZ serious...no one takes the Kardeshians serious...despite being billionaires...they are rich white trash.. I always find it amusing that eulenspiegel will wax on about the overestimation of Jackie's OTTs and then undermine his stance with his own OTT behavior for Emily. Talent for what? Since you mentioned Abigail and Emily, who have very different musical preferences, let's take them separately. The statement for Emily is absolutely true if you are speaking of a composer for classical, jazz, movie scores, or musical theater. Of course, Grace or others have never tried to pass themselves off as such. On the other hand, Emily tried for a few years to pass herself off as a pop singer-songwriter like Grace and failed miserably. She just doesn't get popular music at all and probably never will completely. I have mentioned here before that Emily's pop songs sound like they were written for a musical rather than as a pop song. That is likely why she brought it Abigail to be a co-composer because the latter at least has had some success in that area.
As for Abigail, she is a talented pop songwriter, but not a great one. Here is her most successful pop song:
Nice little ditty, but nothing that would indicate she was some groundbreaking talent. She does, however, have a knack for some pop hooks that have been Emily's weak point in getting a wider audience for her attempts at pop songwriting. However, by comparison with the songwriting of some of those mentioned on this page, there is no comparison. I could name at least a dozen pop songs each that Billie, Olivia, Grace, Tate, and others have written that are far better than any pop song Abigail has written.
When it comes to singing, both Emily and Abigail have pleasant voices but neither has a voice that is either great or memorable. Certainly, for sheer quality of voice, both Jackie and Angelina Jordan blow both out of the water. When it comes to an interesting and memorable voice, Billie, Olivia, Grace, and Tate all have distinctive voices that you know are them. Vocally, both Emily and Abigail sound like a thousand other people I've heard before.
Turning to Maddie, since she was also mentioned, she was a very talented dancer. She also seems to have a very good eye for fashion and that is apparently the direction she is heading since it is more sustainable than a career as a dancer. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am not a Maddie fan - primarily because I have don't really care much for dance and even less for high fashion. However, in my pre-retired days as a statistical analyst, I was in meetings preparing marketing campaigns with fashion brands who were clients and I have a little understanding of how the industry works (or at least did at the time). I would bet that her current output on Instagram is being guided by someone with marketing expertise in the fashion industry because it sure looks like it come from the Olsen Twins playbook. Eventually, if Maddie is successful, the Instagram account and other social media will close and like the Olsen Twins and Lauren Conrad, she will be pulling the strings behind the scenes. To place Maddie in a category with the Kardashians only shows just how biased you are. The latter really do have no discernible talent except perhaps as potential porn stars. Maddie competed as a dancer and won national competitions. She was certainly far more talented in her area than Abigail who has no comparable accolades.

I could get an adult not liking the film as it was obviously aimed at adolescent girls but to claim the acting was horrible is just ridiculous. Fortunately, like in most things relating to any young female performer not named Emily Bear, your opinion doesn't carry much weight. Among those who actually review films for a living, the movie got positive reviews with a 61% positive rating on Metacritic and a 68% positive on Rotten Tomatoes which is very good for a teen film. Even those who didn't like the film generally praised the acting of the cast and had most issues with the script. Of course, if Emily had been in the film, you would be comparing it to Olivier's Hamlet.  |

Maddie runs around with friends that are very popular like Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae, Addison Rae, Sabrina Carpenter, Madison Beer and many other very popular people that if Maddie wasn't a decent and likeable person they just wouldn't have anything to do with her. As soon as Maddie and Jenna Ortega met they became good friends as soon as Dancing with the stars had Maddie and Alexis Ren together they became very good friends. Her sister Kenzie is the same way who seems to be able to make friends with everyone she meets. The Z-Girls were always giving back. To say they have no talent would be like saying no business person has any talent. There talent is knowing what the general public likes and building on that. Few entertainers make the Billion dollar club, and the ones that did just used their influence from entertainment to branch out into other areas. |

Let's not forget also that Maddie and Kenzie are sent a lot of clothing from manufactures. Both girls box up what they don't use or just used a little and donate them for charity. A lot of things still have the labels on them. Looks like both of them have about 48k people following their account waiting for them to post something new. Tate McRae is heading to Germany for 3 concerts there all under 1000 capacity. It will be interesting to see how they react to her since most won't know her songs and Tate is a very physical singer who dances and moves around a lot trying to reach out to her audience.

Most of her songs are mid-tempo so she is not really a dance-pop singer. Also, her style from her days as a dancer was more modern and interpretive rather than something like hip-hop, so the choreography is more geared to visual effects (lines, etc.) rather than merely being overtly sexual. |
