CoT was arguably further from classical than anything except Two Hearts part 2 by itself. So the artist's prior placement would not be enough to get it on those charts. COT is folk. I would argue that folk is no farther away from classical than showtunes (SFTSS, Debut) or Christmas (Heavenly Christmas, Someday at Christmas) all of which appeared on the Billboard Classical and Classical Crossover charts. 60's American folk probably wouldn't. Some portion of the show tunes and Christmas material fit, in style if not literally. An album of covers of songs all originally by one artist is probably just a cursed idea; heck, how many Elvis impersonators (no shortage of those!) can you name? (I can think of just one, the guy that built the replica of the Star Trek original series sets) Although CoT would have done better had it not been delayed, since it would have caught more of the Joni rediscovery wave. |

That's exactly the point, an album only with songs by one of the most famous songwriters in a completely different genre, how is that supposed to be successful. But it still benefited from the Joni Mitchell wave, five years ago it would probably have had even less success. Jackie also doesn't give the impression that she is satisfied with the album itself. Which was not to be expected after the production chaos. |

Sad state of affairs over at the Cat forum, Rick is banning posters because of some Whinny Ass Willy who is a hypocrite. Rick forgets that he was banned 3 times and cried like a baby for Mike to reinstate him, Hmmm how soon they forget.
