Hmm. 4pm ET Thursday, and appearing in chat, too (on the Youtube channel, I assume). Don't have any great questions thought up, but I may watch the chat as well as the video. :-)

What audience is Jackie going after. Olivia Rodrigo said she wrote songs for her Guts album that she thought would work well for concerts. Jackie's slow music would only work at very small venues like nightclubs. http://instagram.com/p/C5Bh-XfsHv6

Over the years, I've noticed that followers of any cultural phenomenon of all kinds make comments such as "you are a fan of "cultural phenomenon", only if you "fill in the blank". For example, you are a true fan of the Green Bay Packers only if you showed up to games in seasons in which they won only a handful of games. In this case, you are only a fan of Jackie if you care for her adult voice no matter what genre, or you never were a fan in the first place. Strange logic. I have enjoyed very little of what Jackie has produced in her adult years. Just because someone doesn't like her music since she reached adulthood does not mean they were never a fan at all. That's a silly argument. Personally, I don't like most of what she has produced since Awakening. That doesn't mean I was never a fan. I'm still following Jackie because I know that she is capable of portraying intense emotions through her voice, and would like her to reach that level again. Just haven't heard it for a long time. One can lol all they want, but those lol's are there just to make the other party seem dumb or uninformed, lol. That would be strange logic, if that had been what was said...yesterday anyway. But of course that isn't what was said. LOL The statement made yesterday was that said individual didn't care for ANYTHING that Jackie sings as an adult...that would include new and old material, since she still sings both. Since Jackie's voice hasn't changed much since she was a kid, this seemed to imply that they must never have been much of a fan of Jackie's voice in the first place then. That, or this person has just grown tired of her voice. In that case, there is nothing that Jackie can do about that...her voice is her voice. You are confusing two things. You said you don't care much for the new material that Jackie has produced since the Awakening. That is a different matter. You are saying you don't like the material, which there is a lot to be said for...I at least in part agree with that. What was stated yesterday seemed to pertain to her voice. I think the person speaking probably mispoke and didn't mean to say they don't like "anything" she sings these days, just doesn't most of the new material she sings these days. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "achieve that level again"? What level? Are you implying that her voice has gone downhill since then? Or are you suggesting that she no longer sings with the same emotion? Or, are you just saying you hope she goes back to singing the kind of music that she seemed to shine at the most, namely the classic kind of stuff like Nella Fantasia and O mio babbino caro? I personally didn't enjoy most of her material on The Debut, not because she didn't sing it well or show emotion, but merely because I wasn't into Broadway songs. I've enjoyed COT much more than I enjoyed The Debut, largely because I enjoy that type of music. I have always said that where Jackie shinned and stood out was when she sang the kind of music she sang on AGT back in the day. When she sings pop music now, I think she's sounds fine, and I still really enjoy her voice, but she doesn't really stand out in the crowd of young women pop singers when singing in a lower register. I think a lot more young women singers can sing lower register pop type music well than can sing the higher register, "opera" type music that made Jackie famous and that she can still sing quite well. Ave Maria would be another example of that. And finally as Socal points out, the cute, sweet little kid with the angelic voice lost the cute, sweet little kid half of her schtick, and now just has pure voice that really only sparkled the most with the classic kind of music. I stand corrected - yep I mixed up the two concepts. But someone who says they don't like anything that Jackie has sung as an adult could have been a Jackie fan at one time. I concur with "Wandering Ears" that the phrase "you were never a fan" is meaningless and that type of rhetoric gets old. Jackie's adult voice IS different than the bell-toned voice she had as a child, and that's natural. As others have pointed out, her adult sound is just another voice in the crowd, so I'm pulling for her to find a way to stand out - that's what I meant.

As others have pointed out, her adult sound is just another voice in the crowd, so I'm pulling for her to find a way to stand out - that's what I meant. It is a little different in tone...tis true. However, her basic voice is the same and to say you don't like her voice now but liked it then strains credibility. Her voice is still that pured toned, at times power house voice that can still bring chills. To say you don't like the genre of music she sings now however, that's a different story...that is valid. But if Jackie were to sing her cc songs today, the songs that made her famous, and someone were to say, "well, I liked her voice singing those songs as a kid but not now", I would contend there were never really a fan of her voice as it is very similar today. Mabye they were a fan of the little girl with the big voice schtick, I dont know. I acknowledge that Jack's voice had more of that "bell toned" sound as a kid, and I thought that was when she sounded best. I think that is a legit argument. But it hasn't changed so much that one could say, "well I liked her voice then, but no anymore". I call b.s. on that. If you think that way, go listen to her in person...I guarantee you will change your tune, pun intended. The bell toned thing is fairly subtle and some, even in here, have contended that they don't hear the difference. To summarize, fair to say you liked Jackie's voice best as a kid. Unfair to say you liked it then and dont like it now...it hasn't changed THAT much. lol

So pointing out that their is nothing wrong with observing the changes that I have already acknowledged I too have observed are there makes no sense. My point was that her voice is largely the same, if not quite as crystal tone at the peaks as before, and hasn't changed enough to no longer like her voice. Now, you certainly could think it sounded "better" at the younger age...I would actually agree with that. But it hasn't changed so much that one could no longer like it if they liked it before.
