While I agree some of the same old Jackie set list gets a little old, some of her songs still give me chills, like Ave Maria, and others I still thoroughly enjoy. She has done a good job recently in mixing in some different Jackie "classics", which is great to see. This is how she makes her money, and it's always a celebration of her career with what's left of her fan base. I certainly don't find it "boring". I really enjoy most of Jackie's new songs...I think Solla is quite good and still listen to it in the car. It's doesn't make much if any money for Jackie, but it allows her to try new things and gives her a creative outlet. This new "tour" gives her a chance to sing her original songs in front of small, young audiences. While I think it unlikely her original music will find much success from a career reinvention perspective, I'm glad she's doing it...I think it's good for her. And of course, you never know...there is always that outside chance one of your songs finds commercial success. Keeping that dream alive gives Jackie something to shoot for. It's a bit of a mindbender watching her get her groove on with her leather pants last week, and then watching her switch to her CC persona. Yeah, I do like Ave Maria and How Great Thou Art quite a bit - and she takes it to a new level with those. I don't remember if I've seen an artist perform in two genres that aren't real close to each other on the spectrum. She still has the vocal chops to be successful in classical and more power to her if she can go back and forth between genres. I'm all in to see a pop show if it comes to this area, but I wouldn't see her cc show unless she recorded some new material or perhaps dusted off a few of these (in preferential order): Nella Fantasia Imaginer Mi Mancherai A Time for Us The Lord's Prayer Ombra Mai Fu Lovers Teaching Angels Take Me There She Knew The Haunting Sane To Believe (with modified lyrics) Someday Dream With Me Con Te Partiro Believe Made to Dream She has a nice catalog, but she has her favorite go-tos that need to go in the closet. That includes OMBC, Nessun Dorma, anything Phantom, Impossible Dream, Over the Rainbow among others From your list, I'd most like to see her perform these again live. Nella Fantasia Imaginer Mi Mancherai A Time for Us The Lord's Prayer Ombra Mai Fu Lovers

I clicked through every song of that concert. Boring. I'm happy for all the people who get off on this stuff, but I'm waiting for more new original songs. I would like to hear her co-write or just perform new songs, with a band, in the indie/progressive pop/rock genres. This old slow stuff does nothing for me anymore. Saturated. You deserve a medal for making it through that. It’s hard to believe some peeps go again and again to hear the same ‘ol, same ‘ol. She’s given us just a small sample of what she can do with pop and road looks a heck of a lot more exciting.

Posted by Ghost at the cat forum: Video by Barry B videos Jackie Evancho at the Staller Center Stony Brook NY 11/23/24 Full Concert youtu.be/VyitUT8C1EA Program: OMBC Music of the Night Somewhere Can You Feel the Love Tonight Wonderful World Piano Solo Rains of Castermere Ave Maria Think of Me How Great Thou Art Intermission Once Upon a December Burn When You Wish Upon a Star Bridge Over Troubled Water River Piano Solo Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend Over the Rainbow Impossible Dream Somebody to Love Nessun Dorma No Jackie songs. Someone called for a 3rd encore, and Jackie had enough sense of humor to give them a few lines of Time to Say Goodbye, a cappella. Despite being on a university campus, the audience was almost entirely 50's+. And very nearly full, and not with many regulars either. Guess there are still pockets of the older crowd that haven't been saturated and haven't had a performance near enough to them. Traffic was hideous except on the north/south freeways like I-95 or the Jersey Turnpike. Esp. coming from south of Baltimore, with they Key Bridge gone, that was bad too, which it otherwise wouldn't have been on a weekend. Even the traffic between 70 and 10 miles of the venue was bad. That makes me wonder if a lot of the people weren't from northern Long Island, where they could have taken minor roads and traffic wouldn't have been that bad. (I might have given up had it not been for the mostly self-driving of my Cybertruck; it did pretty good, rarely needing intervention in prolonged circumstances that would have worn my nerves down to where I wouldn't have done as well.)

That live performance was so off the charts incredible - don’t think it will be matched by her or anyone else Those early performances of a Time for Us are unforgettable - legendary really And this performance of Nella Fantasia leaves you with your jaw on the floor It’s performances like those that have me still hanging around hoping that Jackie can approach those heights again. She probably won’t but I’m glad to have those memories of deep soul-stirring magic.

Glad you had a chance to go. Just curious, if you had to choose, would you go to another cc concert or a pop concert and why?

Jorn Swart thanked Jackie. That sounded very much like a farewell. Possibly the last concert of this kind.

Glad you had a chance to go. Just curious, if you had to choose, would you go to another cc concert or a pop concert and why? I would have gone to the pop concert in Philly (had a ticket), but couldn't find and reserve close enough parking. As it is, the walk from parking garage to the Staller center and back took me more than a day to recover. But this was my last chance to see her this year, and I was willing to be a bit sore for that. So ease of access and within 300 miles or so is my criteria. I suppose I prefer the classical/Broadway mix, but the voice that makes me forget less pleasant things for awhile could sing the phone book (she did once on an Instagram post, I think it was) and I'd be happy. And most of the alt/pop, although often mildly odd, is within the range of what I like, even if I think that except insofar as it's what she wants to do, Jackie doing pop is like a brain surgeon doing pedicures, kind of a waste.

I really like Jorn, and he's a fantastic piano player. I certainly hope its not the last concert of this kind. Hopefully he just decided to move on to other things.

This guy is trying to get a date with Jackie. Will he succeed? That's Mike in a parallel universe where Jackie wasn't there to support him.

His working with Jackie will be rare while she's mostly touring with Echosmith (or with anyone else in a similar role). But for her own events, whenever she's not the guest of an orchestra, she'll need someone with similar skills to handle accompaniment either alone or leading a small group of local strings and percussion. He's quite accomplished on the piano, has composed some original instrumental work, and has done the arrangements specifically for Jackie, like the POTO medley. Similar versatility would be required of any replacement. The category of performances that are neither with an established band nor with an orchestra will probably NOT vanish. That's either the fear of those who don't want all pop, or the wishful thinking of those who do. Or the thinking that everyone has to be a one trick (genre) pony. Good as Jorn is, and as much reduced from her glory days as Jackie is, she's certainly gotten him exposure he wouldn't otherwise have. Not only with old folks (some of which can afford a year of venue membership just to get better seats, nice to have exposure to folks with a bit of extra $$ to spend) but in locations he might not have otherwise been at (the birthday party in India of a prominent Indian/American lawyer) which might have enabled him to expand his own connections. So thanks, as well as for her own appreciation of his work, might be incremental rather than final. Could go either way of course. But pop-only is a waste. DF said what amounted to that 14 years ago or so, and it was obvious then and should continue to be obvious to anyone with ears.
