This thread won't be that interesting to those who haven't heard of her, but I recall a few discussions about her on the old JE forums. She was an up-and-coming IT girl as a result of X-Factor, with a powerful musical theatre voice and unique interpretive skills. Her long-overdue debut song is pretty ho-hum to me – not what I would have hoped for – but more power to her. I haven't tried to keep up with her, but it has been a mystery to me as to why she disappeared after making such a splash. The L.A. Times article answered those questions for me.

More from the LA Times on what Carly is up to. It sounds like she's on a deliberate slow roll, out on her own, living in Los Angeles, majoring in music business at USC, and planning an EP next year. It definitely seems like she's not in a hurry. With her popularity after her X-Factor run and second-place standing, she could have very easily blown up, but she didn't want to play by their rules. I detect a wee bit of resentment, but mostly I see someone who doesn't regret her decisions and is carrying on with her life. I don't think it's even a Plan B—she's not clinging to anything—it just seems like she's doing what she would have anyway.
I admire her a lot for this. She is positioning herself to have full control over her life, and possibly that of others, depending on what she does with a music business degree. Jackie, on the other hand, isn't deliberately doing anything except loitering near whatever easy money she can scrape up. I don't find a lot to admire about Jackie's "dream with me" world anymore.

Don't expect any changes there. Jackie is living her dream, that dream being the same dream as her parents...which was doing as little as possible to get by and scooping up the easy money (either racking up the credit to the point of bankruptcy or bilking gullible old fools into spending thousands of dollars for worthless junk). Loafing and loitering, having a good time with other people's money, showing up to parrot a concert once in a while, that's Jackie's "dream with me" world. And she isn't even dreaming of any worthwhile causes like baby seals or animal protection anymore, she is only interested in her gay and transgender agenda.

Word has it she bought a restaurant that features seal meat as their main attraction. 😮
