Kenzie gained almost 52,000 new instagram followers in the last week since she first hit 13 million. Jackie doesn't have any more followers then she had a couple of weeks ago when she first hit 72k. Tells me Kenzie is gaining new demographics and Jackie isn't. Of course Kenzie is working hard to increase her followers and Jackie isn't doing anything.
Now in youtube subscribers Grace Vanderwaal is gaining on Kenzie quickly.

Jackie is gaining 106 daily subs which is better than I thought she would.
There are a few reasons for Grace's upturn in YouTube subscriptions. One is the legs of the "Waste My Time" video. Usually videos get a big chunk in the beginning and then die out after a week or two. This video seems to just keep going and is adding more views per day now than a week ago. It has been released less than three weeks and already as 1,879,630 views on YouTube. Perhaps even more impressive is that it has over 116,000 likes - a very high total for that many views. For example, in the five weeks since its release, Kenzie's "Hot" has 2,229,785 views but only 113,000 likes. This would indicate a chunk of the recent views are those new to her music (you can only like a video once) and so she now has added them as subscribers.
Now, I think the "Waste My Time" video is highly amusing (the mannequin boyfriend scenes at the end are a hoot), but I don't think that is the whole picture as her other videos have taken a turn up in views as well. The deeper reason for this upturn is her recent touring - both opening for Florence and the Machine and her current headlining tour. More specifically, it is all of those fan made and posted concert videos that have been popping up all over YouTube. Her voice no longer squeaks and cracks the way it used to in her AGT days (although some people found that endearing) and while she does not have classic great pipes, she can project her voice well and her inflections and general style are unique. The big key, though, is she is a great pop songwriter and that gives her a huge advantage. She also is a highly likable person and is a high energy person onstage. All of this means she puts on a highly entertaining show and people are getting that clearly. Letting people have free reign to record and post has paid off big time. Are you listening Team Evancho?? It's a new era now.
I did not see many videos posted for Kenzie apart from the one posted by PrettyMuch from Boston. Of course, since PrettyMuch was the headliner, Kenzie might not have had much say in terms of recording policy. It might also be better for her to not have much posted this time around since she was new to touring. It takes a while to learn how to control the stage and be a professional entertainer. Better that she get the kinks out of her show first rather than having videos posted of the inevitable rookie mistakes. There is a world of difference, for example, between Grace's early onstage performances and now. I remember being highly amused at her appearance at a conference for YouTube content creators (below) when she sang Moonlight and as she went out to the audience she began saying high to her friends between lines of the song. There is also a story that she had chosen a dress to wear but had just gone through a major growth spurt so it was now the shortest of mini-dresses. Since she didn't have time for an alternative, she ended up wearing a pair of shorts underneath it for modesty's sake.

I hope these "loose shorts" photos were taken all at one time and she hasn't been wearing the same clothing for days. That should have just been 1 instagram post with 3 pictures not stretched out for 3 days. She has been doing that a few time. Too much time for her to take a few seconds and post something new. Maybe Team Evancho hasn't figured out how to do that yet. |

I did not see many videos posted for Kenzie apart from the one posted by PrettyMuch from Boston Actually there are videos of every show kenzie was on plus a lot of what they did in between shows. Kenzie was posting so much that 3 girls jumped in a car and tracked her down walking across the street and had her on their vlog.
This site has a lot of them.
Both Grace and Kenzie are using social media to their advantage every time I turn around one of them is using their instagram stories. Kenzie Hot that came out recently has 4 videos made by SME (on behalf of Arista Records) Hot lyric video 999,898 views Hot official video 2,231,213 views HOT (Vertical Video)293,646 views HOT (AZTX Remix) [Official Audio] 110,056 views LOL Kenzie decide she will make a hot video that is not part of SME kenzie - HOT (AZTX Remix) [Dance Video] in one week it got 378,555 views Published on Aug 21, 2019 Kenzie made this while on tour with her dance crew they choreographed themselves. She is not wasting her time sitting on her butt all the time. Grace Vanderwaal is with SME (on behalf of Columbia); Sony ATV Kenzie is with SME (on behalf of Arista Records) The first thing SME did for Kenzie when she signed was make the Hot videos and put her on tour with Prettymuch and I bet SME had something to do with her changing her name on her social media sites from Mackenzie Ziegler to just kenzie.
PS. Yes I have been saying on both youtubes and instagrams the number of likes is as important and maybe even more important than views because each like represents one person and you can only give one like. Jackie's videos no matter how may views they get usually have a very low likes count indicating the same people are watching it over and over again.

I'll have to check out other concert vids but I had not come across them. I didn't think she would have cared if people posted videos since she has been pretty savvy about her online presence but I thought maybe Prettty Much's management team were imposing some policy of their own.
The multiple videos for Hot (or Grace's multiple videos for "Ur So Beautiful") likely have a large overlap viewership - Kenzie's (or Grace's) most devoted followers are going to view every video at least once. I don't think Grace's sudden push in YouTube subscribers (she had been adding subscribers at a small but consistent pace) occurring when she is touring is a coincidence. We have both pointed out in the past how Team Evancho's scrubbing YouTube clean of Jackie's fan posted live performances is totally short-sighted and I think this illustrates why that is the case. The videos of Grace (and Kenzie) are free advertising for the rest of the tour. You not only add new fans but get your existing fans excited and feeling that they can't afford to miss your show.
By the way, I was not suggesting Kenzie was slacking off - far from it. Both girls are hard workers (message to OTT's: hard work is required - not optional) and it pays off.
I failed to mention it last time, but Grace's live performances are aided greatly by her three piece band who are highly experienced session musicians and have been working with Grace since her Imagine Dragons tour (They also work with other singers when Grace is not touring). Since I have only seen one of Kenzie's shows, I have not been able to form an opinion of her backing band. Since Kenzie is more dance-pop with a highly choreographed show rather than Grace's indie-pop style with her "I'm not a dancer but I've had way too much caffeine today" stage presence, the band may be less important to Kenzie's show than the dancers since things like guitar solos are not part of the package. |

Request for Posters Quoting Expanded Links As you know, when you make a post containing certain links (e.g. Youtube, Instagram, etc), Proboards automatically expands those links and displays the CONTENT of the link. (I refer to such links as "expanded links"). This is great because it makes posts more convenient to read. Unfortunately when you reply to a post containing expanded links, Proboards automatically expands the links in your quote. I feel that such expansion is unnecessary (since the links were already expanded when displayed in original post) and makes posts much longer and more time consuming to scroll through. And it sometimes makes it harder to tell the reply apart from the quote. To convert an expanded link to a non-expanded link, all you have to do is to edit out the "http://www." in front of the link. This will make your post shorter and easier for everyone to read. I have made this edit on some previous posts on this page. Note that this edit doesn't change the post, only the way it is displayed. This is only a request, not a requirement. An alternate option is to type the word link next to where the link appears, "cut" the entire url, highlight the word "link", hit the link button, and then "paste" the cut url into the bottom line of the link button input prompt (asking for a url). The word "link" will then appear as a hyperlink to the posted page. This, of course is on a PC. It is likely a bit more tricky on a smart phone. |

Kenzie is more dance-pop with a highly choreographed show rather than Grace's indie-pop style Agreed. Grace is a singer-songwriter whereas Kenzie is a singer-dancer - those are very different. I believe many singer-dancers (such as Britney Spears) lip sync their performances since it is hard to both sing and perform such complex and strenuous dance moves at the same time. I don't know if Kenzie does that. They make no secret of it and fans are fine with it since they came to watch the dancing as much or more than the singing. With a true singer, lip syncing a live performance would be highly exceptional although there are circumstances where it is done. |

One of Grace's great draws is her quirky, candid, energetic, optimistic personality. I am bored with most teen interviews (not surprisingly) but I do find some of her interviews interesting. When casting the lead for Stargirl, they felt she was the perfect person for the part even though she had never acted before because she was simply playing herself. |

That is exactly how kenzie does it also. She also leaves the flips up to her dancers. |

A friend of kenzie's went to Grace Vanderwaal concert yesterday, Makenzie Moss will be in a movie with kenzie coming out soon. You can see Grace's tattoo clearly. http://instagr.am/p/B1t3gJfB2g8 She said she had fun that usually means she could let go at the concert sing, dance take a video etc.
That is what you want now days, you have to be an entertainer as much as a singer.
