It's a dress. In the last few years, tops that give the appearance of being a bustier or corset have become very popular. They generally use flesh colored fabric in places the aforementioned undergarments might be see-through. Jackie was wearing a dress that used the same idea. Now you might argue this trend is tacky but there is really nothing more at play here than Jackie reflecting styles currently popular with young women. I would guess she is much more aware of such trends with her exposure to the Turinos. Sorry, for asking again... but as Coda ..a mediocre remake ...of a french 2014 movie won Best Movie Oscar...in the US version the girl auditioning for Berklee
Why doesn‘t Jackie Evancho go to college...did she try.. does she have a high school degree?
Did she wanted a scholarship...but was not good enough..?
In her case it would make absolute sense to go to a musical college...in contrast to Emily Bear...I think she is still technically enrolled but after two gap years....she has now achieved already more than most Berklee alumni
But JE totally lacks musical competence...she has to go college.

Others in the music industry who have performed or recorded with Jackie say she's great to work with. Jackie says she has perfect pitch, meaning you can play any note on the piano and she can sing that note. From what I gather from recent Jackie interviews, I don't think music theory, or even learning to read music interests her. Emily Bear composes music...she needs to know this stuff. Jackie has said she has tried to learn to read music a few times and just can't retain it. I don't see her going in that direction. Jackie doesn't play an instrument or compose music, but she has a great voice - great pitch and timing. Sure "musical competence" would only help her, but I see neither the desire nor the innate ability to study music or excel in a formal musical education. |

Jackie has been the solo headliner in more than 100 concerts. She has released 8 albums that were #1 in Billboard Classical Albums. Jackie has already achieved far more than most Berklee or Juilliard alumni. The fact is that many of the greatest musicians (Beatles, Elvis, Irving Berlin, etc) cannot even read music (https://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/famous-musicians-who-cant-read-music/). Formal education is useful for some but useless for many. I don't see how Jackie would benefit from it. The only thing Berklee can teach Jackie is to sing like Renee Fleming. Unfortunately, those who like that kind of singing are already fans of Renee Fleming and will not switch over to Jackie Evancho. And if Jackie sang like Renee, Jackie would lose all her present fans (who like Jackie because she is not an opera singer). |

Jackie looks thin? She's in her twenties and looks like the majority of my friends I've ever known at that age. If the concern is that anorexia is still a problem, then that would be a legit worry, and hopefully she continues to get help and doesn't pull a Karen Carpenter. Otherwise she looks normal to me – thin maybe compared to a couple of years ago (during the baby rumor period) but not unhealthy.

She has anorexia dude....that makes you thin. |

I agree she looks thin, but also part of her torso is hidden behind his jacket, so her torso isnt quite as thin as the picture makes it out to be. But she is definitely thin. I wish she'd eat more...she has me worried. |

I was reading up on anorexia. More than 90% who get this mental illness are white women. The most common age group to get this condition is 12 to 25. Seems that 21% make a full recovery with therapy...and people in this category tend not to relapse. 75% make a partial recovery...but this group tends to experience relapses. Fatalities from anorexia if you are in treatment is only 2-3%.
So, odds are this will be a lifelong struggle for Jackie, with occasional relapses...but she can lead a long, productive life. If she is lucky, she will overcome it completely...but it's not the likely path statistically speaking. Fortunately, the chances of her dying from it are remote. With continued treatment and family support, she's got everything going for her to keep this mental disorder under control.

Except what Jackie is wearing isn't clothing, it's an undergarment. There's no flesh colored fabric under the lace. There most certainly is. It's particularly noticeable in the one where someone is behind her zipping her up or whatever. Look for the texture. It's not even as invisible as usual. There are a pattern of thin spots (darker looking) in it, but if you think you see anything, it's on the edge between imagination and reality, so I don't think it's a problem. It's considerably less than one saw 30+ years ago on network TV when some female swimmer was in wet light colored Speedos...which were definitely a bit translucent when wet, at least above. I'm no expert on undergarments, but I don't suppose most lace ones would go to that much effort to make it uncertain that one was seeing anything. So I think it is rather an outer garment somewhat in the style of an undergarment; I gather things not unlike that have existed for a number of years. Most of her seemingly risqué outfits use flesh-tone fabric to hold them together. Like the one that looked like hammered copper split to just above the belly button, it was actually not split at all, but right up to the neck in the middle, with flesh-tone fabric. No malfunctions with something like that! On those that come up to the neck, the neckline gives it away; it may look like a thin necklace, but it's actually the edge. I think that whoever said that white makes her look washed out was probably not wrong, so this may not be the best choice; but that's a matter of taste rather than judgement; it's pretty tame, at least for evening wear. |
