I am really curious whether most of the Admins and assistances here were former Amazon forum posters. The negativity in most of your posts and particularly those in response to an opinion that does not line up with yours is very apparent. I suspect most posters here, admins or otherwise, are former Amazon forum posters. That's because this forum exists only because Amazon discontinued theirs. The reason that this forum is apparently negative is the same reason that the Amazon forum was apparently negative. Like Amazon, this is a music critic forum and not fan forum. So relative to every other Jackie forum (which are inevitably fan forums) this forum will be significantly more negative. If Amazon had been just another Jackie fan forum, there would have been no reason to keep it alive since there are numerous other fan forums. But I felt Amazon's uniqueness was worth preserving. It's not for everyone (those who want a fan forum would be happier at a fan forum) but it is for those who want a broader range of opinions. Ironically, I believe we make a positive contribution to Jackie. That's because the greatest enemy of any showbiz career is not negativity but indifference and oblivion. Anything that keeps her name alive is a positive. |

Socalfan.....you may have noticed my "like" to your preceding post mainly because it is clear and said without emotional influence .....which unfortunately I cannot say about mine which prompted your response.
The only issue I take to your response to which I feel is related to mine centres on the meaning of "critic"
crit·ic
1. a person who expresses an unfavorable opinion of something.
synonyms: detractor, attacker, fault-finder, backseat driver, gadfly
2. a person who judges the merits of literary, artistic, or musical works, especially one who does so professionally.
synonyms: reviewer, commentator, evaluator, analyst, judge, pundit
The vast majority of people being critical of Jackie or other artists fit in category #1. Those that truly fit in category #2 that provide criticism of any artist do so mostly with the intent of providing constructive criticism.
I can appreciate the difference in this forum compared to the pure fan forum as it does offer a look at other views of an artist's work... my unease occurs when I see opinion lean more towards being a nasty attack and significantly less constructive insight. In the case of Jackie, she is still quite young and has been very sheltered by a family that cares a lot and were never given a book of instruction for rearing a child prodigy. A number of child prodigies never had a normal childhood and often experienced an adult environment much too early in their life.
My bottom line is that when critical opinion is given about any child prodigy artist one should always keep in mind that they mostly come from a non normal background and comments need to be tempered to factor this into their criticism.

I've just listened to the clip on Instagram of Jackie rehearsing Starry Starry Night. Oh wow, her voice is so beautiful. I'm hoping she will travel abroad and maybe even visit the UK soon. I have to hear her sing live, that's on my bucket list.

Is this Jackie from 5 years ago just in a larger body ? , has she advanced her career or still in place or lost some place . is she content with this again , same songs , same Jackie . |

So she is now singing in high schools? No. The original venue for the concert was damaged by flooding from the hurricane that struck Houston so the concert was moved to a high school auditorium. |

She may be up to something in NYC, it might involve Foster or Broadway or both. If Broadway, it might be a while, and not recorded for our ears. That's if things are going well for her. Could last this way for several years. She does have the remains of a concert tour to finish this year, though. Then, I expect her to drop out of sight for a few years, and possibly come back after that. |

And I think that whenever a new musical hits Broadway, just like musical movies, there would be a soundtrack album. If released soon enough, while Jackie still has a part, her songs could be included. I just don't see her dropping out for a few years if she can help it. There could be a mortgage on the house and the NY apt., not to mention taxes and utilities, plus they all have to eat and pay for health insurance. |

If she drops out, it won't be voluntary. I expect her concert career to continue, but perhaps slowing down with fewer gigs as her career slows down. Broadway is a long shot for someone with no acting or dancing skills. |
