Ella Henderson was a contestant in Season 9 of X Factor UK. She auditioned with her original song, "Missed," (the show apparently had her do a cover of "Midnight Train To Georgia" as well, but "Missed" is the one she's remembered for). Although she was favoured to win, she was eliminated at sixth place, which stirred a lot of anger online and came as a shock to the show's host and remaining contestants. Initially with Syco, she has recorded with Warner Brothers and Asylum, achieving good chart placement and platinum sales.
To me, her X Factor performances remain her best work. Her voice is often compared to Adele, but her style is unique to her. Here are my choices for her top-three performances on X Factor:
Audition - "Missed" (original). Originals are rare in talent shows, especially in 2012, but this one impressed.
"Believe" - Cher (cover). She turned a typical Cher song into something special.
"Rule the World" - Take That (cover). Gary Barlow, who wrote the song and was one of the judges, praised her performance.
