Grace Vanderwaal's Fault interview and cover shoot.
Is it ever worrying that some of your fans won’t resonate with the new messages and might prefer the music they came to expect from a younger you?
Yes, absolutely. That’s what I’m most nervous about because vulnerability and honesty are very intimidating, scary things. I think that life hasn’t always been cherry blossoms and rainbows. To tell that story, I’m definitely worried that people are going to be taken aback by the honesty of it.

Is it ever worrying that some of your fans won’t resonate with the new messages and might prefer the music they came to expect from a younger you? Yes, absolutely. Every artist needs to grow and develop in order to stay fresh and relevant to the times. But there is always the chance that fans will not like the new work. It is a problem that every artist struggles with.

He has 27 concerts scheduled this summer. Jackie has 1. But let's be honest here. It isn't actually a "Jackie Concert". She is performing with the Ocean City Pops who have regular events and regular followers and ticket holders. Most people are going to these events to see the Ocean City Pops. They have concerts every so often with other singers. That may attract some additional fans of that singer. But for the most part, the majority of attendees are there to see the orchestra and are regulars. www.tix.com/ticket-sales/ocnj/1541So to say it is a "Jackie Concert" and that she is the reason people are attending is misleading at best.

Not only the lack of interest Jackie has shown but even her new both side now video that is out and on her youtube channel, she must have it switched to private so that you have to search for it by name as you won't see it looking at her youtube channel. Which doesn't make since unless it is some type of rub against her label. youtube.com/watch?v=mW4grXeHsWk A search for "Jackie Evancho" on Youtube will generate a hit on the video. You need to scroll down a bit to find the vid. It appears that the video has been switched over from the "Jackie Evancho - Topic" channel to her own channel and you're right, the video can't be found if just searching her own channel. More weirdness in Jackie world and another indication that this album will go nowhere fast Jackie 's interpretation of Both Sides Now is pretty - but the "organ" instrumentation doesn't seem to be a good match.

For those who think the idea of Jackie turning things around as I suggested in earlier posts is impossible, allow me to point to an analogous situation of a young singer with a primarily older fanbase who has managed to bridge the gap to younger fans (not teenagers but younger adults) while maintaining her existing fanbase. Angelina Jordan had an audience of primarily older folks (not as old as Jackie's base but old enough) who loved her versions of standards like "Fly Me to the Moon", etc. She had already achieved as large an audience as you could within the confines of that genre. Like Jackie, she also has an amazing voice and has used talent shows to gain an audience (she won Norway's Got Talent at age 7 and competed on AGT Champions at 13). She made a decision to move in a pop direction to expand her audience.
She, like Jackie, went viral on a talent show and wowed everyone with her performance of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" on AGT. youtube.com/watch?v=D7SE6c1Htds However, Angelina did follow up on social media and pushed out her cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" as a single where it has now has over 7 million streams on Spotify alone. She then ended up being signed by UMG/Republic Records. She was teamed with songwriters (she has written a few songs on her own but she's no Joni Mitchell) and has two singles out so far. The most recent "7th Heaven" has over 2 million streams on Spotify and the video 1.6 million on YouTube so she is on her way to a sold, sustainable career despite still having a rather small fanbase.
youtube.com/watch?v=9rLiWvwzbCA She is currently 16 years old. Angelina seems to be doing well on social media and streaming. But the real test of a solid career in music is headlining solo concerts. That is where the money comes from to pay the rent and put food on the table. As far as I know, Angelina has never given a solo concert (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Whereas Jackie has performed well over 100 concerts since she started in Feb 2011. Of course, Angelina is still young (16) and is just starting her adult career so she has lots of time yet. But, for now, she's clearly not where Jackie is careerwise.

You are right - it is an Ocean City Pops concert and Jackie is only a guest. But I noticed that Katherine Jenkins is also going to be a guest. I'm surprised that a singer of her stature would come so far to perform. I wonder if the CC market is drying up a bit.

Just a guess, but I highly doubt she's coming to the US just for that, she probably has other things lined up.
