Btw none of the bots wanna talk about estimations of the Pittsburgh show were from 2/3rds to 3/4 full. I would love to talk about that. The estimates of 2/3 to 3/4 full were indicative of attendance but not necessarily paid attendance since there is no way to tell who paid and who got in for free. So how do we estimate the paid attendance? From the ticket seat maps. This is the seat map at 7:55 pm on Dec 10th, 5 mins before the show started: By my count, Jackie sold 462 tickets. (Anyone is welcome to check my count since I could have easily miscounted.) As I have explained previously, the seat count must be accurate because if it is not, tickets would be double sold and there would be problems all over the theater. Tickets sold at various times in the last 2 weeks: Dec 10 - 462 (Socal fan at 7:55 pm) Dec 10 - 456 (johnnyb at 4:19 pm) Dec 09 - 460 (Guest 4) Dec 03 - 389 approx (johnnyb, unchanged from Nov 30) Nov 30 - 389 (johnnyb) Clearly, there was no surge of ticket sales, either in the last few days or the last few minutes. I monitored ticket sales at the City Winery concerts and there were no surges of ticket sales, either in the last few days or the last few minutes as well. This makes sense - if you are a Jackie fan, you will always want to buy a ticket as early as possible. There is never any reason to wait since the better seats always sell first. The theory of a surge of walk-ins is pure fantasy and never made any sense. So why was attendance estimated at 2/3 to 3/4 full? Because empty theaters are depressing and venues are always happy to give out free admission to insiders (volunteers, staff, donors and their families). It costs them nothing to give out tickets that will never be sold. For example: librarymusichall.com/frequently-asked-questions-faqs How Do I Become A Volunteer? Chances are if you’ve been to a show at the Carnegie of Homestead’s Music Hall, you’ve interacted with one of the many volunteers who provide a welcoming environment. Dressed in white and black, they tackle questions from “where is the closest restroom” to “how long is the intermission?” The venue’s operations are enriched by over 50-60 volunteers, from college students to seniors, to support a wide variety of before/during/after show needs.Since the show was less than half sold, I'll bet that all these volunteers and their families got in for free. Plus staff and donors. Plus Jackie's friends and family. msims will continue to spin these numbers, but you are 100% correct.

My guess is whoever estimated attendance wasn't exaggerating, just being human. Your eyes see the things that pop out from a background (like heads and color) and your brain fills in the gaps. I agree...I did that at the Nashville concert. My section, was full...so the place seemed full. I agree that there is an optical illusion of more people than are actually there. But I also think that the venue gives out unpaid tickets to enhance the size of the audience. It costs them nothing, it rewards volunteers and staff, and it greatly improves the atmosphere of the concert. Win-win for everyone. I should have mentioned that I agree with you on the likely addition of unpaid ticket attendees, so I just rounded up to an even 500.

I also maintain that many of the early ticket sales were bought by local businesses and media to support the event. Given the winery attendances and her decreasing popularity, I doubt the promoter would have chanced booking the concert without some pledged ticket purchases that would at least guarantee a break even. And also considering that she had a Christmas concert in Pittsburgh last year where most tickets sold for $5 each. Casual fans who wanted to see her would have gone then and most would not go again a year later at much higher prices. So media and businesses who bough tickets to give away, friends and family, and hardcore fans would have made up the bulk of the sales. And it is very doubtful she could generate enough interest to book a several hundred seat venue anywhere else but her hometown at this point.

My goodness. I go away for a week and Sims, Amazon-Jackie's answer to Cliff Claven, is off his meds again. I guess it's time to bring this one back:

Actually I meant sight line illusion, but before Spinsy has a chance to discredit me for the misspelling, I might as well issue a correction.

not necessarily paid attendance since there is no way to tell who paid and who got in for free. We only know that some members of the Evancho family got in for free and Nashville to industry people/celebs. There were last minute ticket sales in Jersey and in the days leading up, which may or may not have reflected on the seating chart. There was a push in the last few days or so advertising Pittsburgh and her doing the local tv show. Its always been the case that advertising = more sales. The show was underadvertised for weeks which lead to the results you found. Yourself and Ricky said that the Winery shows had walk ups which may have or not at all to do with Jackie which I later agreed with after getting Len's opinion. There is always an explanation that doesn't gaslight.

That's a big audience attending the Ocean City Pops. The Ocean City Boat Parade is the biggest weekend of the year and they always sell out that concert. (Then again, what else do you do in a dry town, get drunk on sarsaparilla?) Supposedly, they even hired an opera singer to perform. It is rumored that their seat maps are inaccurate and that fights break out all the time over double sold and triple sold seats. I'm amazed that any performer would want to be associated with a Mickey Mouse operation like that. Of course, it only looks like a sellout since the presence of people block the view of empty seats. It is an optical illusion since you can see only the empty seats in the immediate vicinity, such as the 4 empty seats in the foreground of the picture. All empty seats further away are blocked from view.

SoCal Fan loves to nock Jackie, he just loves it when her concerts don’t do well in attendance! Who will you go after after Jackie quits performing? To bad you can’t enjoy her beautiful voice like I do and hope she has a long career! I just don’t understand why you would wish for her career to end? When you have a beautiful voice like Jackie , I would never give up on my favorite singer! You only pay attention to Jackie to see when she sings her last note!

One unusual thing with Carnegie of Homestead (Pittsburgh Christmas show), the parking is all on-street in the surrounding area, no nearby garage or lot. That means unless you want to walk a fair distance, you get there an hour early (when they open). It might affect the timing of last-minute sales, insofar as there might be no point in online sales in the last hour.
(having done my research since walking longer distances is no longer fun, I was more than an hour early and parked acceptably close to the entrance)

All empty seats further away are blocked from view. I think the group was called Tre Principesse or something like that. Looks like Jackie's Ocean City concert has sold a lot of seats since I last looked...that whole front section is pretty much sold out. The seats up close the person could not make it, they bought them and were trying to sell them. The seating charts did not show the seats in the back being sold they actually show people sitting in those seats. But no one is saying that there weren't random scattered unsold seats. Updated: So around 900/"Near Full Capacity" for NJ (Len estimate) and there are estimates of 2/3 (696 out of 1045) to 3/4 (785). So I think that is fine. Btw poster of the year: theanastasialee Best agt winner according to this guy: "Jackie Evancho or Darci Lynne"

She was here for like five minutes, and all I remember her posting were complaints that the comments weren't pro-Jackie enough for a fan site...even though this isn't a fan site. ROFL So I would agree with "Most Confused and Fewest Number of Posts of the Year". LOL

I would have had more respect for her post, if she had stayed on the site for a while and had a mature discussion with us.
