I will keep on saying that Jackie should have done Linda instead of Joni. Linda ALWAYS did covers but put her own style on other peoples writing. Here is a vocal teaching reacting to different sounds of Linda. Too bad Jackie did not have the chance to follow TMS with a tour.

I would laugh my ass off seeing Jackie try to sing La Charreada without gasping for air. I seriously doubt she could hold a note that long, and then on the same breath, complete the phrase. And then immediately do it again! Linda Ronstadt's breathing is impeccable. You can hardly tell she's breathing, and can hardly believe she had time to breathe between lines in a song that fast. Nope. That's why we'll never see Jackie do anything energetic until she learns how to breathe properly. This is why she slows songs down. This is why she won't sing theater – she can't project without microphone-assist. Her stubborn mother poo poo'd vocal coaching, and it shows. Her excuse (and Jackie repeated this misconception) was that vocal coaches want to change the way you sing. That is absolutely not true. Jackie's singing has suffered from this bad advice. Sure, she can hold a note and she sounds pretty, but she can't belt. Microphone-assisted volume is not belting. She uses too much air to produce that throaty tone, at the expense of an authentic natural voice. We saw a small bit of progress in The Duet album, where you could hear a new sound (a theater sound, by the way). Then in an interview she talked about learning how to sing better from her producer or someone. She called it her "new voice," but I have not heard her using that voice since. She went right back to thin, microphone-assisted, recycled bad habits. Nope. LEAVE LINDA ALONE! She should have left Joni alone too.
