Bull. Darn few of us know a thing about anything other than what we like or what we think from our incomplete (we don't have the sources they do) look at numbers. I doubt more than one or two here if that many have the background to have an opinion worth anything more than what they were paid for it (zero). Anyone can do a less than insightful survey of what works for some, and suggest that others follow that model. Neither life nor careers are that simple. Not that there might not be some points that apply, but but that there are far better places to find them with a far lower noise level. I suppose some find discussion that ends up with people taking various sides and sticking to them to be interesting. But it generates far more heat than light. Practically every online discussion forum would fail a classical debating class, with clear understanding of logic and fallacies and straw men and so on. It is useful in one respect, a reminder that the majority of people are NOT helpful and don't want to be (regardless of their pretenses), and that free almost anything is probably worth less than one paid for it, given the time it wastes. |

Bland, reserved and dignified is perfect for that. "bland" is not necessary, and is in the eye of the belolder. "reserved" can perhaps be carried too far, although living one's life online is not necessary either. "dignified", at least according to context, is probably appropriate almost always for everyone. There are times that a point needs to be made, or a story told, that may preclude it, but as a usual manner, it's better than "I'm a gonna f you up if you cross me" kind of attitude. She's not "cool" and her personality isn't charismatic. I find her charismatic while she is singing, but not when she's talking. When she's talking, she often comes across as clumsy, awkward, and unsure of herself. Jackie is a sweet person, but those other traits don't lend thenselves to attracting a significant new following in pop. Other than good, original, relatable music, what are some personal traits that can attract new fans? Charisma, coolness, sexiness, relatability, confidence, endearing qualities, originality, uniqueness, memorable qualities, etc. Other than some things I find endearing about Jackie, Jackie's personality just doesn't have many of these characteristics...and some things I find endearing about her others find annoying and a turn off. |

There is a solution that works for anyone: talk as little as possible except when you have something definitely interesting to say, and either have it memorized thoroughly or have a TelePrompter (notes on the floor are either unreadable or look like you're reading notes). Otherwise, join ToastMasters or otherwise learn to give the illusion of speaking spontaneously while actually staying focused. Darn few people are making it up as they go...and most of them shoot themselves in the foot at least occasionally. Anyway, people don't go to a singer's concert to hear talking, give or take a surprise announcement. And I'm not sure how even trained speakers necessarily translate to social media sound bites. |

I've seen young (18-25, say) personally (not necessarily politically) conservative people working in an office setting, and they didn't seem very different, except for sometimes being better prepared to answer questions. |

River was 5 months after she was eliminated from TMS. 5 months is a long time for new and potential fans who were looking to her social media to find something that interested them. As far as tater:  She didn't land a charting in the Billboard Top Ten. Caz's mop has once and Jackie has had four chartings higher than #13.
