She's a second tier star so she "only" makes $15 million from Spotify as opposed to the $50 million for Olivia and [just place in some absurdly high number] for Taylor. How do these poor girls get by? So everyone doesn't get a flat .003 cents per stream, some get paid more? What determines how much they get paid? And what about songwriting? With album sales, the singer gets a cut and so does the songwriter? How does that work with streamingif the singer is covering a song? This is a good place to start: www.billboard.com/pro/music-streaming-royalty-payments-explained-song-profits/

She is just like any other new artist. No she isn't. Any other new artist is unknown and has a clean slate, and may have other talents, personality or charisma. She is already known to most people who would have had any interest in her, especially after TMS, but they aren't interested. On top of that, she has offended many on the right by being a transgender promoter, and has offended many on the left by singing for Trump. Any other new artist doesn't have that baggage. Once you start to get traction, people check out your past work and those totals rise accordingly. When is this traction going to occur? It's been several years now of the same talk and these big new starts and comebacks. HINT: It's never happening. If Jackie can get a back catalogue of songs that can produce 1,000,000 streams a month on Spotify, she would be making $3,000 a month. If I could gather up a bunch of goose feathers, glue them to popsicle sticks to make a pair of wings, and fly to Mars and back, I would be famous and rich.

You are right, but keep in mind that the public's memory is very short. Most of the public have already long forgotten her and their reaction would be: Jackie-who? So she is effectively a clean slate. But her biggest obstacle remains her well proven lack of charisma. There is nothing she can do about that.

5. The worries of MP cutting her are rather silly. Although she may not be a big seller yet, neither is anyone else on that label. Alt-pop records are relatively inexpensive to make, they cost next to nothing to upload, and the label doesn't have to pay her until they get the money. I think you underestimate the cost of producing and marketing Jackie. Production costs: Greg Camp's salary, studio time, sound engineer, musicians. Marketing: MP held shindigs for DSPs in LA, NY and upcoming Napa Valley. Travel expenses for Jackie, Camp, Mike, MP executives. Salaries for MP execs including Sanborn McGraw. None of that is cheap, especially the big luxury affair in Napa Valley. Melody Place fired Fred Mollin after the COT fiasco and was forced into a restructure. Small indy labels often run on shoestring budgets. If MP doesn't make money, how do they pay Sanborn McGraw, pay the rent and keep the lights running? I suspect their pockets are not deep enough to pay for a lot of patience. The danger is not that MP will cut Jackie, although that is possible. The bigger danger is that MP will run out of money to fund new Jackie projects.

Her name isn’t that forgettable, especially if it’s associated with something negative. Even if someone who has forgotten her looks her up, the answer to “Jackie who?” will be, “Oh, THAT Jackie.” She may have to change to a stage name or join a band. To be a successfully transitioned former child star – even without any baggage attached to your name – it seems to me you only have so much time to accomplish that.

I suspect their pockets are not deep enough to pay for a lot of patience. Greg Camp works for MP. His salary is part of their doing business. The salaries for executives are what they are whether Jackie is there or not., The schmoozing sessions are already paid out and there will be no repeats. I really doubt there were musicians for her EP. It was likely primarily computer generated instrumentation with Camp possibly for the guitar parts. If Grace can make near release quality stuff in her bedroom with just a MacBook and some software, I am pretty sure Camp can get BME done with a full studio and far more sophisticated software at his disposal. The fiasco Fred Mollin created went far beyond just COT. He had his own plan for MP that was in direct opposition to the opinions of those controlling the purse strings. They wanted to use front money to create a label that could get some minor success to be attractive for takeover by a larger label. He just wanted to make the kind of music he liked - which was 70s style folk-pop and didn't necessarily care what the artists or even the owners desired. Sanborn McGraw is now in place to get what the owners originally hoped for when they seeded the project. Now that you've already have songs recorded, releasing singles to prime for some traction costs nothing. The songs are already done. The money is already spent. Even recording a few more singles will cost little if done on the cheap. If you are talking about being a hit artist of the Olivia Rodrigo variety, then that's not going to happen and I never said it would. But all she needs is one song to get traction in the alt-pop world and the past songs will start streaming as well. I've seem it happen dozens of times. A superstar career is not likely in the works but a sustainable one is entirely possible.

6. I would say the key would be to get some exposure by opening for a compatible artist. We all concur. Like GraceV did with Imagine Dragons and Florence and the Machine. The problem with Jackie is that GraceV had enough name recognition in pop to be interesting to ID and Florence. There must be a zillion small pop acts that want to open for ID and Florence. When they look at the statistics for Jackie's streams and followers, I don't think they would pick Jackie over her fellow aspiring pop musicians. That might leave Jackie doing a tour with Grimm. But he has no more star power than she does. But there may be other less well known pop musicians that would consider Jackie for an opening act. We'll see.

I am not sure that is her biggest obstacle, if she could get away from that family and run around with some her age maybe she could get some charisma like she did on TMS with some coaching. But one of her biggest problems is that a younger fan base would not get along with the older fan base she has. Just listening to BOGT proves my point. But Jackie is not like a new artist starting out she has Mike she has to support and the house and who knows what else. A young girl just starting out would be thrilled if she could just get enough money to afford a small apartment even if she had to flip hamburgers also. Jackie has a certain income that she has to meet that will not allow her to start from scratch. Also most start out younger than Jackie is now and have actual family support. Grace Vanderwaal didn't and doesn't have to worry about supporting anyone but herself even so there isn't one bit of doubt in my mind that at anytime in her career she could have had her parents happily support her until she could get back on her feet and all the others I see the same way.

When she was revealed on TMS, the reaction was "who's Jackie Evancho"? She had a nice audience of the middle aged and elderly but she was all but forgotten by 2020. Moreover, there is past precedent. Alanis Morissette was a teen-pop singer who had her 15 minutes of fame and faded abefore she reappeared with Jagged Little Pill and she became the Billie Eilish of the 1990s. The teen-pop Alanis complete with 80s hair: The alt-pop Alanis five years later: You can't get much more of an extreme turnaround then that. Then you have a young singer named Fergie starting on a Kidz Bop type group called "Kids Incorporated": By the way, Brie Larson was also a teen pop singer: So redemption arcs from obscurity after a fall are not without precedent.

Jackie is not known to most people Note that I said she is known to most people who would have had any interest in her. It doesn't matter that most didn't recognize her on TMS, it matters that they didn't care about either her or "Kitty" after that. As for your other reaching on rare occurrences where someone got successful in the past, that means nothing. I could put up links to the names of people who won the Powerball lottery as well. Does that mean you or I have a good chance at winning just because they did? I will bet you whatever sum you name that Jackie never amounts to anything more than she is now, a washed up wannabe who got lucky once 13 years ago, and spinning her wheels since then in desperation of attaining a fantasy. It's over, just a matter of when she (and OTTs) eventually figures that out.

I will bet you whatever sum you name that Jackie never amounts to anything more than she is now ... It's over, just a matter of when she (and OTTs) eventually figures that out. I agree with your first sentence, that Jackie will likely not be a star but continue to have the modestly successful career that she has now. But with respect to your second sentence, in the immortal words of Yogi Berra: it's not over till it's over. That's why I'm still here.
