If you thought he was very good, then why haven't you heard him sing in 13 years? I thought he was very good too, but he didn't have a unique sound and sounded like other singers I had heard before. I thought that Jackie had him beat in the raw talent department, and stood out as having a more unique sound/voice than he did - that incredibly pure tone. Plus he was a lot older and had more experience singing...Jackie was very young and very undeveloped, yet still sounded like that. I think the older, hipper singer in the hipper genre is why he won. Jackie was the solid favorite to win that final...even Grimm was totally shocked when they announced he won...the look on his face when they announced him the winner said it all. Also, as I remember, he had a great sob story going for him...AGT voters and judges love that stuff. Jackie didn't have a competing sob story. I wasn't surprised at all that Grimm won, not because Jackie wasn't good, but because it's mostly young people who do the voting, and they, especially girls, prefer a guy with a guitar to a little opera singer. People who vote tend to vote for the person they like best, singing what they like best, not necessarily the person who's the most talented.

That, and don't forget the sob story...that undoubtably gets votes as well.

AGT has never been a show that appealed widely to a younger audience. The real core audience for talent shows are soccer moms and they love mildly scruffy but still not too dangerous male singers who look like they would make good husband material. Syco made some good money off of Chris Daughtry on American Idol and Grimm was a humbler variant of the same act so I am sure that is why they pushed him so hard on the show. Sure, the soccer moms love little girl acts too, but they like guys like Grimm even more.

AGT PUSHED THAT THE WINNER WOULD HEADLINE VEGAS ,SO VOTERS THOUGHT A 10 YEAR OLD COULD NOT HOST A SHOW, IN REALITY THE WINNER WAS JUST THE FIRST NAME THAT TOPPED THE LIST OF ACTS! AGT MISLEAD THE VOTERS!

AGT MISLEAD THE VOTERS! Yeah, I've heard that theory before. Not sure I buy that Jackie lost very many votes due to that. If people thought she was better, I think they would have wanted her to win the million dollars. She didnt haver to do the Vegas show if she didnt want to. Grimm had a sob story, and he was "cool" and sang a "hip" genre of music. I think those are the reasons he won.

I'm not sure I buy that. Not knowing the viewer demographics of AGT, I bet there were plenty of young people watching as well.

In the years before Simon Cowell was on the show, the demographic definitely was older. In the first 15 years, a person under 18 won only once (Bianca Ryan) and that was the first year when it hadn't established much of an audience yet. Part of the reason Simon Cowell joined the show in season 11 (2016) was to keep AGT from being seen as strictly an older demographic that would make it less attractive to advertisers. American Idol had a younger demographic and the ratings were considerably larger and varied once he joined. It also increased views for the YouTube channel. It was not a coincidence that someone under 18 (Grace) won AGT his first year on the show and the next year the winner (Darci Lynne Farmer) and runner-up (Angelica Hale) were both under 18. I doubt that would have happened had the show not been revamped.

Some random people on the street were given this news, and this camera captured their reactions. You used to be good about focusing on posts that pertained to your interests and ignoring the rest, but now you seem to be going out of your way to put down anything to do with Grace. Very sims like behavior.
