it really does appear that Jackie's career is over. I am very much of two minds about this. On one hand, I find it hard to believe that no 700+ seat sun belt venue is willing to hire Jackie for a CC concert considering her long history of success in such venues. And she did give a concert of this kind in Spring TX only 3 months ago. On the other hand, her very empty concert calendar speaks for itself - she is obviously not getting concert offers. I really don't know what to make of this. Perhaps her attempt at Jackie 3.0 has confused her traditional venues, forcing them to wait all this out until the dust settles. BTW, a minor correction for your post: Jackie's Nov concert is not in NYC but in Stony Brook, a suburb about 45 miles East of Manhattan as the crow flies.

I've never fully said this before, and it makes me sad to say, but it really does appear that Jackie's career is over. Well, I hate to say "I told you so" but....oh wait, I don't hate to say that at all! After years of taking abuse for pointing that out, it's nice to see OTTs finally waking up and smelling the coffee. And remember....The Best Part Of Waking Up - Is A Burger Flipped By Jackie In Your Cup.

I think she'd still be doing fairly well with the CC audience if she had some new CC material to sing, but her last few albums just didn't fit the bill and aside from OTT's, people will only pay to hear the same songs so many times.

Plus the CC universe keeps shrinking. And, over time, Jackie's senior citizen fan base continues to die off. What will happen to her career? Neither full-on classical nor CC has ever gone away, nor ever will. Some few (admittedly) people under 50 or even 40 (or even under 30 if they are music geeks) still listen to both. It's not big, but it's loyally supported. And being big in a huge genre is not easy; there's not very many that are at any given time. Not that many years ago, but with less inflation, tickets to see Streisand were a few hundred bucks. I've an impressive sound-alike or two for Karen Carpenter on social media. There is a Broadway play about Neil Diamond, and the guy that plays him is scary sound-alike. The number of tribute bands out there doing covers and near-impersonations of bands that are aged out or no longer active is ridiculous, they're filler at venues between more recognized acts. There is a heck of a lot of music going on that's not the latest and greatest.

I've been saying for years that Jackie's career has been in big trouble and have been sound the alarm bells. But, hope does spring eternal. Just looking for that one show that is close enough for me to be willing to travel to.

I stumbled across videos of this Broadway play going on tour and heard this guy sing in some videos. He's amazing, and I have always been a Neil Diamond fan. I might go to this show over the course of the next year...if it works out.

I might go to this show over the course of the next year...if it works out. Since I'm not huge on digging through YouTube, and almost never watched awards shows, it's not that long ago that I saw the live duet of Diamond and Streisand singing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" for the 1980 Grammy Awards show. Given the history of both of them performing it, that was a bit emotional.

She is not qualified, not trained, does not have the stamina, the technique…why should they hire a mediocre amateur..when there are thousands of better trained musical high school pupils every year..not to speak of the thousands of professionals… Wake up…there are even at your local high school better singers..more talented singers…every year.

LoL...I just said mabye she should give it a go...she does have a beautiful voice. She could use acting lesson though. And Jackie is a seasoned professional singer, better than most high schoolers. You aren't helping your credibility when you exaggerate to such extremes.

People who think that all Jackie has to do is [fill in magical thing here] and her career will take off again.
Nope.
She may sound good to some people, but I think her voice is anemic. She covers that up by hitting the high notes to impress people like donk-a-donk, but then it's right back to sounding like a high-school recital runner-up. I think her stage presence is boring, and her fake emotional delivery is the same for every song. She could be singing about sewer pipes and she would still act all sentimental and sincere as if she was singing about homeless puppies.
She doesn't play piano or guitar, and has to use a backing track to fill in for the lack of anything else that would make her interesting. Her "career" has declined because NO ONE IS INTERESTED ANYMORE. Period.
