Sounds like a lot of work for Socal to me.
That is why I mentioned at the end that it would require someone besides SoCal to step up as an additional moderator to be in charge of moving things once a week or so. Otherwise, you are correct and it would be pointless.

There just isn't enough traffic on this thread to need any changes. Easier to just scroll past what you don't want to read. Sometimes it has almost been a full day between post. I think to see what really is happening to Jackie's career it is important to see how others that were child entertainers progressed to an adult career. Grace Vanderwall is just one of the examples that talks how she moved past the AGT stigma from that show, while Jackie embraced it long after it should have just been a stepping stone. Jackie was 10 years old on AGT now at 24 it should be just trivia concerning her career now, not the main selling point.

Since everyone has their idea of how best to run somebody else's forum, let me put in my two cents. First off, I think the forum should be run however Socal Fan wants to run it. But I will make a few suggestions and leave it to him. Now, if Socal Fan has been thinking of changing things, it is best he do it in the next week or so as we are getting close to that 1000 page total where he will start yet another General Discussion: Entertainment section (#5). My idea would be to make it, beginning with #5, a temporary holding place for all entertainment discussions. After everyone has had a chance to see and discuss it, then move it to the appropriate section (either the Jackie section or the other artist section). For non-Jackie posts, the limit would be one week. For Jackie posts, one month. If the discussion is still ongoing, there can be an extension at the discretion of the moderator. This way any topic not generating continued discussion will disappear quickly and unclutter things. Eventually, one could do the same for the earlier General discussion sections and get rid of the clutter of multiple general discussions entirely. Of course, my suggestion would require at least one additional moderator to specialize in just moving things around.
Any thoughts?? As I have mentioned before, this forum is an asylum which is run by and for the resident inmates. So I am always happy to consider anything that there is a consensus for doing. As you have noted, moving posts around takes time so there would be no point discussing this further if there was nobody to volunteer their time. On this thread, there are 976 pages with 15 posts per page for a total of 14,640 posts. This thread started in Jul 2023 so it has lasted for about 14 months. So the average number of posts per month is 1,000. Is there anybody who volunteers to organize 1,000 posts every month? That's a sizeable number of posts per month, more than I would have anticipated. |

Jackie embraced it long after it should have just been a stepping stone. I think Jackie would love to be a pop singer rather than a CC singer. She has tried for a long time to move to pop but, unfortunately, the public does not seem interested. So she has been forced to stay a CC singer. |

I just want to see what has been posted in the General Discussion thread. But with all the posts being made in the Off Topic thread, those latest posts get buried. Is there some way to make the "Main Category / Main Board" actually be the MAIN thing you see when you come here?
Why call anything "MAIN" on this forum if (at the very least) General Discussion is not the MAIN thread?
Why have a whole section of the forum called "POLITICS" so why not require political discussions to reside there?
Again, it's simple. Just move the political discussions to the POLITICS category. That's all I was asking for.

It's not like she would be asking some of them to help cut the grass. The dictionary should just have their pictures under the word Deadbeats.

She's an adult who is barely working...why does she need her family to help keep up her website? She's been in charge of all her professional social media for years. She's not even posting on Instagram much at the moment. Not sure why Jackie has let her website go, but I don't know what her family has to do with it. |

Like I said before , Jackie’s parents did her a major disservice in the way they handled her career! Mike was a deadbeat father in my opinion! They would not have anything if it wasn’t for Jackie!

It's very likely Lisa, now out of the business side, set up the official site, and none of the others necessarily know how to do that. The domain registration is good until 2025-02-08 (YYYY-MM-DD format), so it's just the web site service that expired. But if there wasn't a backup, they'd have to build the site again from scratch, not that that wouldn't be a good idea once in awhile anyway, IF one of them knows how to do it, or IF they're willing to pay a fair bit for someone else to. |
