I checked this morning on some Spotify stats and, on Grace's page, her duet of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" with Ingrid Michaelson is lighting it up again. It seems to have become more popular each year and so far this year seems to be on target. At the end of last Christmas season, it stood at 31.6 million with most of the streams each year in the week and a half before Christmas. So far this year with more than a week before Thanksgiving, it has reached 32.5 million (900,000 this season) and is battling "Moonlight" and "What's Left of Me" for the most popular of Grace's tracks in the last few weeks.
For some reason I have never quite discerned, this version of the song seems to be popular in German speaking countries. It started by getting placed on a popular German Christmas playlist on Spotify and seems to have grown each year. Every year around Christmas season, the most popular cities for monthly listeners to Grace suddenly swell with German speaking cities (Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna, Munich). It is odd since neither Grace nor Ingrid are major artists in Germany but this version seems to have a following. Maybe they like the idea of a Christmas song with a big band arrangement. Although this wouldn't matter on Spotify, it also has a fever dream of a video:

It is confusing, especially when her post says: original sound - Jackie Evancho. The original sounds section on Tik Tok posts refers to who originally posted the audio - not who created the audio. You can use music from one account's post in your own post and it will credit the audio to that person. If you post the audio from your audio files on your computer, it will list you as the source of the original sound. |
