She has 4 times the talents as Jackie , she produces , she write her songs , music & words , formed a family band , needs very little make up to be pretty and she dresses very nice and does not even try show too much skin to degrade herself , she is a credit to females . I respect her like Miss House & Miss Bear and Miss Talbot . These girls need not put a sex "" look at me " like Miss Evancho . What is Jackie saying with the profile on this forum which imo is not a good look at all , hey Jackie level your top ..

Anna Graceman will soon appear on NBC's "Songland" (2020 season) to pitch a song to Bebe Rexha. Songland is an interesting competition show where, each week, four songwriters pitch a song to a celebrity musician. Three of the songwriters are then chosen for the second round, where each get to work with a producer (chosen for them) to refine their songs. The idea of this round is to tailor the song to the celebrity artist's style in hopes of it being chosen for a recording. In the next round, the new and improved songs are performed by the songwriters once more, and the artist then chooses one to record.
I'm a little anxious about how Anna will fare in the show. There have been no spoilers, but I'm hoping she at least makes it to the producer round so we can get a little more insight into her songwriting and personality. I've been silently rooting for her for nine years, only to see her numbers slowly drop. It's frustrating because many of her songs are at least as good as anything out there.
But also frustrating at times is Anna herself. Since her first album she has kept busy, releasing a steady stream of singles, including the "Graceman" album with her siblings. But after her very clever and stylistically varied first album, she seems to prefer a single style that, to my ear, dwells on minor chords, mid-to-low (below C4) accompaniment piano without soloing, and melodic motifs that seem to repeat from song to song. An artist's style is her style, so I'm trying not to knock it, but I'm just not hearing the experimentation that was so appealing early on.
She is also frustratingly private (little-known fact: Anna Graceman is her stage name, not her real name), and switches many of her early videos to private mode, so they're no longer visible to fans, or more importantly the Anna-curious who might like to follow her evolution. There were some fantastic videos off of her first album, produced by notable people, but they're no longer on her channel. I find this as frustrating as some of the decisions the E-camp has made. Anyway, I just needed to get that off my chest. I might post some vids in her Other Artists forum, but for now I'm just hoping that she sells a song to Bebe Rexha on the show.

I have never understood why Anna has not found some sustainable level of popularity. I don't expect her to be a superstar or anything but I always thought it completely in her grasp to achieve some type of hipster career where everyone knows she's great, she has the occasional hit but can push albums and sell out concerts. Think Lana Del Ray now or Bonnie Raitt many years ago. It just has never really happened for her and I wonder why that might be.
I do have a few theories but they are just that - theories. The first is that she generally shied away from associating with any established labels but this also meant she largely missed out on top shelf producers and solid promotion. There seems to be a case similar to Jackie where she became a family business and independently released her music and often was accompanied by her far less talented siblings. She really needed top flight musicians accompanying her on the road and this may have hampered her.
There was also a story of her being assaulted (I think it was a car jacking but I don't know the details) and this placed restrictions on her performing. However, this happened many years after her AGT run and her career was already stuck in neutral.
Finally, I think she had an opportunity (not taken) to be Grace Vanderwaal before Grace Vanderwaal had a chance to be Grace Vanderwaal. Just like Jackie became an overnight sensation for her big voice, Grace did the same for her songwriting. I think it is pretty obvious by now that I am a Grace fan so I do not say this lightly but Anna was a better songwriter at the same stage of life and had better songs available when she appeared on AGT than Grace did five years later. I don't know if Anna ever bothered auditioning her originals or if she was instructed not to use them, but this could have propelled her into stardom. We never got to see how good a songwriter she was until long after AGT was over but that meant the largest audience she ever had would never experience that fact. Say Anna had auditioned originals and had been encouraged to use them as Grace was in 2016. Is it unreasonable to think she could have been as much the prototype for child pop songwriters as Grace would become a few years down the line? It is important to note that while Simon Cowell owned AGT, he was not a panelist at the time and may not have been aware of her songwriting talent and the opportunities to capitalize on it.
It does make for interesting "what if?" discussions about her career. What if she was allowed to sing originals and signed with a major label, etc., ? Where would she be today?
