My msims, it looks like we might have touched a nerve with you. I suppose you are a little upset with the revelation that the family that you thought were Ozzie and Harriet are more Gomez and Morticia (da-da-da-dum *snap* *snap*).
She and that so called lousy team made an impressive career with lucky breaks. Plus she can sing. There are some good acts that are well liked, but shes a singer. She might not win, but who cares? Its the best pr money can buy. Better pr than having that non-singer moppet's Dad.
Both girls made a career from an initial push out of the gate because of their runs on AGT. At that point, success for both was automatic. The difference is what is done to secure a future career - if that is what was desired. Mike and Lisa were clearly not qualified to make such decisions. Dave Vanderwaal's expertise was retail marketing so he was not qualified to run an entertainment career either - but he was smart enough to know what he did not know. Mike and Lisa were textbook examples of the
Dunning-Kruger effect.
I have noticed you always have to resort to ad hominem attacks upon those with whom you disagree as well as any young girl whose career someone might compare to Jackie's. Besides the fact that ad hominem attacks are the sure sign of a failed argument, you like to paint every other young female singer as a "moppet." That is rather amusing since the definition of "moppet" is "a small endearingly sweet child." While that certainly could have applied to Jackie, Grace, Maddie, or any number of other young girls
when they were girls, the importance of that stage of their careers has been put behind each of them with the exception of Jackie and Jo Jo Siwa (although JoJo was never "endearingly sweet"). So who is the real moppet?? Hopefully, Jackie can reinvent herself after her appearance on TMS, but she has clung more to her "child star" status than anyone save JoJo.
One can see the difference in maturity (not to mention poetic imagination) by comparing what they have written. Putting aside the music (since Jackie doesn't write music), consider the lyrics of what is likely Jackie's most personal song (Pedstal) to one of Grace's personal songs (Darkness Keeps Chasing Me).
PEDESTAL
Pretty doll
Pretty face
Held up in this state of grace
Bittersweet
Thanks and please
Welcome to my make-believe
Welcome to my make-believe
Tie me up
Hold me high
All I can do is wonder why
You forced me to be
But here's the surprise
Kill that part of me
It's a suicide
Shattering
Split in two
I am me but you are you
Save me from my pedestal, pedestal
Free me from my pedestal, pedestal
Save me from my pedestal, pedestal
Sound the alarm
I'm breaking out
Hold your ears
It's gonna get loud
Crack the glass
Falling fast
You should have known it wouldn't last
You should have known it wouldn't last
Tie me up
Hold me high
All I can do is wonder why
You forced me to be
But here's the surprise
Kill that part of me
It's a suicide
Shattering
Split in two
I am me but you are you
Save me from my pedestal, pedestal
Free me from my pedestal, pedestal
Save me from my pedestal, pedestal
Picture me smiling sweet
Through the fire that I weep
'Cause up here it's hard to breathe
So I fall down
It all falls down
It all falls down
Falling down
We all fall down
Tie me up
Hold me high
All I can do is wonder why
You forced me to be
But here's the surprise
Kill that part of me
It's a suicide
Shattering
Split in two
I am me but you are you
Save me from my pedestal, pedestal
Free me from my pedestal, pedestal
Save me from my pedestal, pedestal
Free me from my pedestal, pedestal
DARKNESS KEEPS CHASING ME
Opening my eyes
Seems like it gets harder sometimes
Look at the skylight
Would you mad at me if I tried running away to it in the night?
I tried to fight
But I'm not strong enough
I just want you here but I also wanna be alone
I don't know what I want anymore
Every now and then
The darkness tries to chase me
And my legs are getting tired of running
Oh, please don't
Please don't let it get to me
Oh, I don't wanna give up that easily
But the darkness keeps chasing me
Hiding places remind me of you and I
I wanna call you
But if I hear your voice
I just might cry
And I don't even know what the song's about, anymore
And I don't know what I want, anymore
Every now and then
The darkness tries to chase me
And my legs are getting tired of running
Oh, please don't
Please don't let it get to me
Oh, I don't want to give up that easily
But the darkness keeps chasing
Weather streams down my cheeks
Look to my eyes
See you're blowing smoke in your ripped jeans
Don't tell me you fell in
The darkness is already seeping through
Oh, can't you see?
I will be different
I'm not sure if I can do it all alone
God, I want to be different
But I'm not sure if I can do it on my own
'Cause every now and then
The darkness tries to chase me
And my legs are getting tired of running
No, no, no, no, please don't
Please don't let it get to me
Oh, I don't want to give up that easily
But the darkness keeps chasing me, me, me, me
"Pedestal" reads like the bad poetry an adolescent would write in her diary. "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" is at an entirely different level - one that is mature and shows a poetic sense far beyond the rather trite lyrics Jackie offered. I'll grant you this isn't really fair since Grace is known as a songwriter and Jackie isn't, but you were the one who seems to like calling girls other than Jackie "moppet" - not to mention later referring to Grace as "that dumb one" when she is clearly far more intelligent and articulate than Jackie. Just take a look at their interviews to see the point made. Jackie has a great voice - maybe the best of her generation. But there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of levels to her.
If she even knows who that is. Who cares? That dumb one had the opportunity as anyone does in the agt finale to sing with a superstar. Just tell me why she didnt sing with Stevie Nicks? Just answer that. Why she didnt even beg for the opportunity? Even to be a background singer would be an honor.
If you bothered to ask before making wild accusations, you might have known the answer before looking foolish. Do remember the girl was born in 2004 and "Landslide" was released in 1976. That's almost three decades before she was born. In an interview after she won AGT, she was asked about Stevie Nicks and said she had heard of her but did not know any of her songs. Maybe her parents weren't Fleetwood Mac fans. She did, however, know the song "True Colors" (she had already covered it on her YouTube channel) - presumably she knew it from her parents - and did sing it with Cyndi Lauper. Why that is important to the discussion is that "True Colors" is a far more difficult song to sing than "Landslide." If she knew "Landslide" (or anything else of Stevie Nick's) she probably would have sung with her. She already had enough on her plate since that week the night before she was singing a song she had just written and never performed. To write a song, practice enough to perform it for the first time in front of an audience, and then have to learn another song from scratch in the space of one week would have been a bit much for a 12 year old girl - even one with Grace's energy.
