Ok, THAT went beyond the kid's books and one issue of Reader's Digest that I have in German*. I could mostly understand it, but cheated and ran it through Google Translate, which usually does a fair job with German, give or take some gender issues. While I don't share the veneration of formal training as such (it has value, but isn't necessarily the One True Way), I do appreciate the value of classics performed respectfully, although mostly not in huge doses; a long symphony or opera will have me restless unless I take it as a challenge to study it enough to understand it rather than just listen; mostly I don't want either challenging or more than a little energizing, but something that's peaceful and takes away some of life's hurts for awhile. * I take that back; a German butcher store was giving away a pile of books, and I grabbed the one where I recognized the author's name (Maria von Trapp). Haven't gotten around to it yet; I think the print and/or language was old-fashioned enough that it was just a bit more work than I'd jump into quickly.

Simplistically, a singer is anyone that sings - whether or not anyone else even hears, let alone likes it. If a non-singer sings in a forest and no one is around to hear her, does she make a sound? She hears herself. The woodland creatures (if any) hear her. Some animals do respond to human singing. God (if any) hears her, but any response is a secret between singer and God. (the unconditional form of that is I think the classical answer...and in some interpretations, the modern answer to certain quantum weirdnesses, if not in a conventionally theistic - and certainly not any sect's orthodoxy - way) Perhaps even the trees, in their strange way, might hear just a bit (not saying that talking to plants works, but there was the experiment where a mimosa plant "learned" that a certain controlled agitation was not a threat, and stopped reacting to it; and "remembered" for at least some weeks, the distinction between that and other disturbances that it still reacted to).

DEEP THOUGHTS ~ by Jack Handey
"If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason."

A random comment pulled off Reddit, since Rickky already posted a link: www.reddit.com/r/TheMaskedSinger/comments/fuwb85/just_because_you_dont_know_someone_does_not_meanThe original poster's thread title was "Just because you don't know someone, does not mean they're not famous..." -- I had heard the name Ninja prior to his reveal but had no clue what he was famous for until doing research on him. I had never even heard of JoJo Siwa until her reveal. I’ve only been a big baseball fan for the last 5 or 6 years, prior to that I was a casual watcher, but I have no clue who Barry Zito is. I still have no idea who Jordan Woods is and all I’ve gathered so far about her is that she was friends with a Kardashian. Not once have I thought that those people weren’t famous. Well, maybe once with Jordan Woods since being friends with a celebrity doesn’t make you a celebrity, but I’m sure there’s gotta be more on her resume than that. I’ve seen so many people claiming that Jackie Evancho isn’t famous enough to be on this show and it makes zero sense to me. The people who watch shows like AGT tend to watch other shows in the same genre so they are likely also watching TMS. Chances are a good amount of fans will recognize her, even if they only realize who she is once Nick starts announcing her accolades. My fiancé only ever knows a handful of the celebs each season, basically just the sports stars and rappers, but when I told him I thought Kitty was Jackie Evancho, fully prepared to explain who she is to him, he immediately said “omg are you kidding me!? No way that’s her!” I was shocked and asked if he knew who she was and he pulled out his phone to show me videos of her while telling me how amazing she is. This is a guy who had no clue who Chaka Khan or Dionne Warwick were before their reveals and didn’t know who Sherri Shepherd was despite watching her on 30 Rock, yet somehow he knows exactly who Jackie is. Once I played him her newer stuff that isn’t as operatic he became convinced it was her. He has no clue who anyone else this season is but he says he knows Kitty is Jackie. My point in saying all that is to show that just because you’ve never heard of someone doesn’t mean others haven’t. If they only stick to well known mainstream celebrities who all fit into the same categories then eventually they will run out of celebrities. They make sure to cover a lot of ground by incorporating different types of celebrities to ensure a wider variety of fans. It helps ensure the shows longevity.

"Pedestal" reads like the bad poetry an adolescent would write in her diary. "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" is at an entirely different level - one that is mature and shows a poetic sense far beyond the rather trite lyrics Jackie offered. To me, DKCM appears to be adolescent word salad, but if you find meaningful substance in the lyrics, I am prepared to be enlightened.

Anyone that has a few million followers is fairly famous even if you haven't heard of them. Jackie has very few followers espacilly for someone that has been singing for 10 years. I don't care about the entertainers in their 60s Jackie needs to worry about the ones her age.

yes yesterday is long gone as the Beatles ... The Beatles originally auditioned with Decca Records and were told by the brains at Decca that "guitar groups are on the way out" and that the Beatles "have no future in show business." Imagine trying to explain that decision at the next shareholders' meeting. Some months later the Beatles signed with EMI.

I don't care about the entertainers in their 60s Jackie needs to worry about the ones her age. Social media is not the only measure of followers. Perhaps even sales (albums, tickets) together with it isn't. People had followers before either of those existed, and people have followers now that can't be measured simply by looking a few places on the Web; although it may be that those easily measured are held by some decision makers (like labels for non-indie artists, or top contract songwriters for any non-songwriter artist; or those consumers that decide what to try by looking at popularity or peer preferences) to be decisive, not being worth their bother to make more effort to measure the rest. There's some reality in that (if something truly can't be measured, does it exist?), and some laziness or cost-cutting (if something is difficult to measure, is it worth the expense?). Number of followers isn't the only measure either, even if it could be measured perfectly. Loyalty counts too. The Grateful Dead had loyal followers. So does Jackie. Will any of the Z's or JoJo still have ANY of their same followers in five or ten years?

yes yesterday is long gone as the Beatles ...her career started with a spark but things not of music has dampen it but the fire is not out at this age for there are flames that burn a long time . Problem for Jackie, she isn't The Beatles. The Beatles were a forest fire ...Jackie needs only to be a brush fire ...

Jackie's fans have been saying that for years about the Z and JoJo The Z-Girls have been celebrities as long as Jackie has and they are gaining new fans as they get older and into other things. Can't say that about Jackie. This seems to be Jackie's most popular instagram in a long time. Taken Dec. 25 2019 8330 likes http://instagr.am/p/B6f50n9l3-D Maddie Ziegler taken March 27 2020 1,887,408 http://instagr.am/p/B-QbTH9BfTW Unlike views a person only can give one like. Kenzie can get a million likes also now and has almost 14m instagram followers. Don't tell me that the Z-girls are fading away when they can get over 200 times more likes than Jackie. Remember Jackie saying she was working with Adina's Jewels for something well that must have fell through long ago. They much rather have Kenzie represent them. http://instagr.am/p/B-MqHrJD3Ga Of course they are going to pay more if she post on her site where they can get several times more likes. https://www.tiktok.com/@mackenzieziegler/video/6808265866233367814 Adina's Jewels isn't going to get near 650k likes on their site. Where as Kenzie has 16.3m followers. Looks like they would rather have a 15 year old represent them than a 20 year old singer that very few people know who she is.

youtu.be/xC6hXevwOA8 One of my most Enjoyable nights on TV ...She is Delightful ...just listen to the people there .. Well done, but unfortunately days long gone bye. Hopefully JE can reignite her career again moving forward. Imo the Mask Singer can provide a Giant Step to show people that Jackie has a fun , cute PERSONALITY !!!! she needs to show it like a Ariana Grande which she can if you watch her early ads were she was herself but due to making her a older singer of classical songs few ever saw the real personality , what song did she perform to show fun , cute personality ? i believe her Team of misfits suppressed her real personality to fit their agenda of a older singer with the dresses , etc ways they had her perform in , nothing for the youth ..how many M & G they had older people pay for that you saw any youth ? .The truth imo is they used her to make money from older fans and forgot the youth which she was and deep inside wanted to please as she saw the younger singers on shows and could only dream or wish upon a star .Did she not say while sitting on a chair back stage in Cleveland at 12 or 13 years old waiting for action light on ... the life of a Rock star before performing ...

Lets say you have to watch each of these young people on stage for 1 and a half hour with what they do ...which one can entertain for that long ? ..you will tire of a dancer in 20 minutes unless you are a teen boy looking at the bodies in a sexual way . As far as selling ..Duh ! of course companies look at the numbers for selling a item as it's Elementary not talent etc etc .Ps you have no idea of percent they give to young start up show-biz people for a ad and selling a product and have no idea what a start up would take ...15% 25% 5% ..i don't believe Jackie would take a low number .
