You don't have to trust the government all the time, but being totally paranoid thinking you need a gun to defend yourself against your own government is not much different than being a total conspiracy theorist and looking for aliens in Area 51. It's completely different. There's ample history of governments misbehaving, both extremely and incrementally; you can purport to justify a lot of nibbles taking away liberties if you do it incrementally, but sooner or later the total effect takes away the freedom to succeed or experience the educational consequences of failure (both being useful if survived and learned from). The blood price of liberty is not just in conflict ("The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" - Jefferson) but in realizing that you cannot do everything for everyone, nor even attempt to protect everyone, without destroying liberty. The attempt is at best naive, and more typically false and corrupt pursuit of power. OTOH, a secret like physical evidence of unearthly intelligences* would probably not remain a secret for very long (months maybe but not decades) if enough people knew about it to evaluate it effectively; for all that that distrust is also partly deserved because of secrecy abused (some secrecy is necessary), the history of leaks shows how unlikely a prolonged secret of such magnitude would be. * some quite earthly primates, marine mammals, and birds (at least) may remain underestimated, although certainly not to the degree of being able to conspire significantly against humans; none have demonstrated anything like that degree of planning and foresight - chimps may use tools of a sort and even weapons of a sort, but they're easily made (or found), and not durable nor kept for re-use. And the vegans are full of it if they think that they're so virtuous by only eating plants, some of which demonstrate something like awareness to a degree comparable to lower animals, if different and usually much slower. |

BOGC. I've learned when quoting a "guest" (who never leave, but that's a different point for a different time) their name does not appear in the by line section. Rather your own or another real member's name shows up. The only cure I've found is to backspace out the misattributed name and type in the "guest's" name BEFORE YOU ENTER THE POST. Afaik it cannot be corrected at all once the post has been made. |

Actually, the name of the misattributed poster can be corrected after the post has been made. You click on the "Edit" button, and when the edit screen appears CLICK ON THE "BBCode" TAB AT THE BOTTOM OF THE EDITING BOX. That allows you to backspace and enter the correct name. |

Wait a minute here !!!! , is there no cameras in the hall ways of prison cells ? , must be so just look at the floor where a cell is in question , you should know the answer in few hours , all guards sleep at night , that is why they take night turn , tired ? please !!!i worked months without a day off , 32 hours overtime a week .Checking a cell ever 15 minutes stops nothing .
