Looking over my PMs I realize I have been too slow in dealing, or TRYING to deal with one of our 'problem children.' Namely beachguy.

My plan to remedy my tardiness was to make one long post comprised of snippets or entire PMs sent to me and my responses to them. That would have laid the foundation of the case against BG. Unfortunately I lack the internet acumen to do that without losing the post.

I must therefore make many short posts.

I well remember how you sent me a PM at the old JEFC (sniff sniff ) when I first joined and asked how I would know if I was sent a PM. You said "Just like this."

Of course I recognized your user name from having read at, but not posted yet, at Amz and initiated a conversation about that site.

Amz, like Jackie at that time, was new and flush with possibilities. It was the high caliber of posts by knowledgeable posters that kept me reading there. It was the high caliber of posts by knowledgeable posters that kept me from posting lol. What could an uneducated truck driver, even one smitten by young JME add to that?

Eventually, sadly, imo, the site devolved into sniping by cretins. To some extent even the knowledgeable contributors regressed into simplistic rejoinders; "They're just afraid of a strong woman." I know you recognize that one.

Heck, I could do better than that, so I began posting but the barbarian hordes swarmed the site and brought it down. That place cried out for reasonable moderation.

Now, Jackie of the exquisite voice, of the impossible to do so yet still improving voice, is showing herself to be rather vacuous in pursuit of a career. I hate to say that. But observation, repeated observation, must be acknowledged. I truly hope to see that wishy washy 'I wonder what's going to happen next" attitude change into an adult Jackie in charge of her career.

In any case, this site, begun by socalfan, may just develop into a worthy place for Jackie fans to exchange ideas. I hope so. One way I'll judge the suitability of this place will be if you and other serious people can post and remain posting here.

We'll see. Here's hoping.

I can also just say a valuable contributor complained if you'd rather not be named to the other mods. I'll go to war with him (BG) meanwhile. He'll think it's war but it's actually going to be plain talk about his behavior and posting style and keyboard tough guy persona. Look for an open post from me addressed to him before tomorrow afternoon.

I had determined to PM BG to see if I could reason with him. I was one of the few friends he had who openly tried to defend and ameliorate his behavior across several forums. I was hoping my friendship and support would carry some weight in presenting the case for his need to change. I'm sorry to say I am lazy. I never PMd BG as I said I would.

I got the above PM from ******* last night. ** and I are Jackie pals from the old JEFC through the various forums and chatzy. He's a smart and serious fan.

Once again BG is playing keyboard tough guy while he cries like a little girl over sleights he receives from people tired of his doo doo. He thinks his flood of postings are well received by most other fans and that they will eventually be enshrined in the anthology of great English prose.

He was feuding with Schrodinger before S left the other forum. He was enjoying that his posts and PM's were bothering C Leonard. No forum can maintain quality while letting a childish member poke and prod top posters into just giving up and leaving.

I'm one of the few people to speak up for BG over several forums. I enjoy his silliness but his bullying behavior is wearing thin with me.

I'm thinking a PM from me to him, with you two being listed as recipients also. I THINK I can counsel him to quit the BS. If you two agree a PM is the way to handle this I'll write it over the weekend. I'll also send a copy of that PM tp ** so he sees we're addressing his concerns. ** wouldn't be listed as a recipient on the PM to BG, but I think he's entitled to know.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

For me, at least half of Beachguy's posts don't even make sense. It's hard to agree or disagree with gibberish. And unfortunately, he produces a huge and constant supply of gibberish. It's the same problem on Rick's forum. Oddly enough, I don't think BG does this to offend or provoke people. In order to offend or provoke, a post has to be comprehensible; BG's are not. I hope you are successful in reasoning with him. Rick also needs to decide what to do with BG; he's having a negative impact on that forum too.

****** is completely different. But I don't get the feeling he is trying to offend or provoke; he seems sincere in his beliefs. But fortunately, he doesn't post that often. And he posts on the political forums, which were created for that purpose.

Since I have BG [and ***]on 4 ways to ignore, I don't know what he's posting except what others quote. At least we ought to agree that someone posting here should be using the forum to discuss Jackie or other artist issues. This means the objective of their post is Jackie or other artist issues.

BG and *** don't seem to be posting in that spirit. I get the impression that they are both using this forum for entirely other purposes. In fact, I'll go further: They seem to be dishonest in their reasons for posting and posting here, and YOU FOLKS are taking the brunt of their dishonesty.

Do what you want, but if Ford were to willingly, openly sell trucks to terrorists on the basis that even a terrorist needs transportation, the word would get out, and/or buyers would flip over to someone/some where else. Who loses? BG or ***? They'll find the trucks they need elsewhere. But Ford takes it in the shorts.

Here, if people stop by and see all the BG and *** posts, especially if they are unanswered, then this site endorses their brand of posts, and people will not join, they will leave quietly. Please don't let BG and SSW ruin your forum.

To beat a dead horse, in any population of people, you will have a bell shaped curve of all sorts of characteristics. For instance, virtually all doors are 6'6" tall. While that handles me [and 99% of all others] quite well, it fails a few outliers, such as NBA players. Something special has to be done for them. Builders who see the problem, build taller doors and make the sale. BG and *** are also outliers. Draw the line wherever you want, but please don't let your personal 'hands off' philosophy be so total, so complete, that it buries your forum. In any situation, people have to draw a line somewhere. Draw the line so that BG and *** are outside, and your philosophy [and forum?] is still largely intact. Draw the line with them on the inside, and I [believe/opine/fear] it will put your forum over the tipping point. 

From what little I see of their posts, they are NOT here to advance your overall goal of healthy debate, but to foment controversy, force posters to respond, and take advantage of this forum to do it. Please draw the line to exclude extreme personality troublemakers and preserve this forum for people who care. Do it for yourself. Don't forget I have them on 4 ways of ignore, so I don't suffer their posts. I won't be providing the counterpoint to their postings.
