What I find even more interesting is that you know that. lol Get with it. Everyone in my country club carries a Fendi bag. Where else would I put my Metamucil, Preparation H and Viagra?
In a fanny pack you purchased at the Gap 30 years ago like the rest of us self-respecting geezers.

Jackie Evancho Releases Cover of Joni Mitchell's BOTH SIDES NOW On that YouTube video so far since it's release on May 5 it has 11,832 views. It's not her official YouTube page but still rather disappointing.

There are no links to the Youtube version of Both Sides Now so the number of views could be misleading. But there are links to the streaming sites. Do they publish statistics on the song?

Before "Both side Now" came out Jackie had 185,295 monthly spotify listeners. She now has 186,591 monthly listeners. So if Jackie keeps that up in a months period she will make almost $3.90 more than before "Both Sides Now" came out.

A Google search suggested that Spotify updates their statistics daily. So the Youtube and Spotify statistics suggest that Both Sides Now is not doing very well at all.

I can't say for sure why the song is doing so poorly. Over 185,000 have listened to a Jackie song on Spotify in the last month and over 90,000 on Spotify are followers and would get notified of any new song. Yet very few have bothered to even listen to it. I have a free account on Spotify but I have a paid account on Amazon and that is where I do my dedicated listening. I use Spotify on my computer to listen to certain Spotify playlists to hear new artists. Perhaps Jackie's is doing better on Apple, Amazon, etc. Her last single "River" has only streamed 137,000 times to date on Spotify.
Those who are waiting for a CD release better hope she is doing better elsewhere. Given Melody Place is a shoestring operation, I can't imagine they would foot the expense of printing CDs unless they knew there was a ready made audience to buy them. I am not sure of the sales figures for the The Debut, but they were pretty small. The Spotify streaming totals for songs on that album ranged from a low of 70,000 (for "Whispering") to a high of 385,000 (for "Once Upon a December"). If Melody Place is not confident on a return, Jackie would have to foot the printing of the CDs out of pocket.

Are you saying that Jackie has 90K followers on Spotify but Both Sides Now has only 6K streams so far? That would suggest that either (1) many of Jackie's followers have abandoned her after her long absence, or (2) many of Jackie's followers have no interest in Joni Mitchell songs, or both. That is not good news for Jackie and her new album. I suspect that there are not too many Joni fans these days and those few fans have many versions of Joni songs (originals and covers) to choose from. There is no particular reason for them to pick Jackie's version. I think an album of only Joni songs was a poor strategic choice on Jackie's part and I am not optimistic about this album's success. I am not a Joni fan so I know only a few of her songs. Is there anyone who would like to comment on the songs Jackie picked for her new album? The Carousel of Time track list: Both Sides Now River Circle Game The Gallery A Case of You Blue For Free I had A King Rainy Night House Urge for Going I imagine spotify followers are like every where else, you are a follower until you actually go on the site and unfollow them and Jackie has been so inactive that many probably forgot they were following her anyways. Jackie put out River about 1 1/2 years ago. If it was doing so bad why did she decide to go through with the album of covers for other Joni Mitchell songs instead of focusing on something else. Basically another year at least set back. I don't see Jackie or her label really having much interest in it. Seems more like a what the hell might as well release it anyways. Tate has been promoting her new song that will come out Friday for 2 weeks while Jackie announces her new song release just 13 hours before release. Something seems off between Jackie and her label.

It's not her official YouTube page but still rather disappointing. Yeah, but not surprising numbers considering her fan base size, long disappearance, minimal advertising of singles release (aka very few national interviews), and the dated Joni Mitchell material. Interesting how in an April concert she said her album would release in June, after lots of time for her label to put it together since recording it, and now it's not to be released until "late summer", with just a few singles to trickle out from the album in the meantime. Girlfriend needs to get that album out and start getting new concert dates posted on her website in the coming month or two for the fall.
