So she then parroted her way to 2nd place with some opera type songs that kids usually don't sing. And has ever since ridden the coattails of that flash in the pan experience, which initially resulted in large album sales due to extreme hype from Oprah, QVC and Foster, and an initial fairly steady string of concerts. But most of that has now dried up, almost 12 years later. And unless you live in 2011 like Simsy, those days are long gone. That is exactly the problem with folks like msims, they still think Jackie is successful like she was back in 2011. They truly live in an alternate world, but certainly not the real one.

She even herself does not take it serious...she never invested real work into it...until now...it has been a fly in the pan...always about making money without investing real...until now it has been never about music. Jackie will never be the kind of musician you want her to be. She can only be the kind of musician she wants to be. This is the kind of musician she wants to be she even said so and is one of the reasons Jackie went on The Masked Singer. Notice at 5:40 Tate grabs the phone from one of the audience and give her a close up and hands the phone back the crowd seems to have loved that and probably everyone there would love Tate to take their phone for a close up. While you have Jackie's management not allowing people to even take videos. While most of the audance at Tate's concert are taking video's with their smart phones several have more professional cameras.
Here is what type of concert Jackie is stuck with because of her poor management over the years.

I don't really see the point in comparing Jackie to these other women. Jackie has never been a hip young, relevant pop singer. She's a conservative, "uncool" introvert whose fame peaked as a child in cc. Totally different animal.

I think the key phrase is "Jackie wants to be ..." rather than "Jackie can realistically become ...". Like a lot of people, Jackie wants to be loved. Like most young people, Jackie wants the approval of her peers. As a child, Jackie was a big star and received much love and approval. As she got older, her "uncool" status became more apparent to her and even her popularity with older audiences waned. I don't think she is necessarily craving the career of a teen star like Tate but more the career of a pop star aimed at audiences in the 20-45 age range. Think Lady Gaga, Adele, Lana Del Ray, etc. One problem is that such artists usually (but not always) write their own songs. With a great voice (which she has), you can establish yourself a niche audience as an interpreter of songs but you need to bring something new to them to make your own version sound fresh. It will be interesting to see whether she can accomplish this with some of Joni's songs.

From what I've seen from her last few concerts where there is video of her singing several of Joni's songs, the answer to that question is a resounding NO. Fans might enjoy hearing some new material from her...I know I will...but as far as reinventing herself or reinventing Joni songs from fifty years ago to such a degree as to expand her fan base even modestly...not seeing it so far.

I don't really see the point in comparing Jackie to these other women. Jackie has never been a hip young, relevant pop singer. She's a conservative, "uncool" introvert whose fame peaked as a child in cc. Totally different animal. A little over a year ago you could say the same thing about Olivia and Tate. Neither of them will be a hip young relevant pop singer. Olivia an actor for Disney for several years and Tate's fans didn't even know she could sing and she would spend up to 40 hrs a week on dancing. Only by accident did Tate become a singer. So Jackie has a huge head start on both of them and it should not be as hard to be go from CC singer to pop singer as from being an actor or dancer and jumping into POP singing. Unlike most of Jackie's older fan base I believe she does have all the necessary tools to become a popular pop singer. Jackie can sing POP just as good as the rest of them. The Masked Singer did show she can have stage presence while being a pop singer. Probably what is holding her back more than anything is she probably realizes she would lose most of her present base by going pop. I say big deal after 11 years she has as many followers as several of the new pop singer got in a couple of months. Yes Jackie will make a good living just with her singing now but if she really wants to grow her career she will need to make big changes, but she does have the capability to do it. Jackie will need some original songs, for that she will need some good writers helping her out. Even the ones that write their own music has writers helping them along. Everyone knows Billie Eilish has her brother writing most of her music.

She has no catchy original or edgy material, her personality isn't "cool" or "relevant" to the young demographic, she's introverted and struggling with significant mental illness, and her voice is unremarkable when singing most pop tunes...it's doesn't stand out in the huge sea of pop singers out there. I just don't see it happening, and I'm not so sure she does have the capability to do it. And this is coming from a huge Jackie fan. However, she should keep trying...you never know. It will definitely never happen if she stops trying. In the mean time, she can continue earning a living doing concerts and have fun trying some new stuff from time to time.

Grace Vanderwaal giving her fans what they want. http://instagr.am/p/CcoStiGrZqh It doesn't take long looking at others mentioned here to see why Jackie's instagram only has 90k followers and others have millions of followers. It has nothing to do with what genre they are singing.

As far as being a musician, she plays no instruments, can't read music, never went to music school to hone her skills, can't write songs, makes no real effort to further her career through promoting herself, and is really no better of a singer than several other child classical wannabes that are in the mix. She is simply hoping to continue riding the little girl in the red dress schtick until she is 80. But I think the game Pavarotti couldn't read music worth a darn - probably not any better than I can, which is about enough to remind me of something I already know, but not nearly enough to just sing or play it cold. Jackie plays a number of instruments, none at a professional level, but she doesn't need to. Even if she probably shouldn't perform on them except maybe in informal videos until she does, she's good enough on a piano to work something out. No, she didn't slave in college after a music degree...but she's had a LOT more coaching and instruction than just what AGT provided. Your lazy and lackadaisical narrative just does not fit the facts. Lazy people don't do what she did even before getting to AGT.

I post Dylan Conrique as a young singer trying her hardest to make it a year ago when she came out with Bitter.
in over a years time it got
543,341 views Premiered Jan 12, 2021
Dylan kept trying an now her last song in a 2 months got over 4 million views and even some radio play, and she now has 4.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Unlike Jackie and several others she never had any big event to push her singing career along, like Tate McRae just her social media. And with all the people that have made it big through Social media Jackie still ignores it.
Dylan could have taken the easy route and just stuck with her day job, but just like Emily Bear she consistently pushed her new music on her social media platform and it looks like it is paying off.
You don't see Jackie hardly putting any effort in her career, we don't even know for sure when her new album will be out and what it is called.

Here is what type of concert Jackie is stuck with because of her poor management over the years. Unless one plans to take up professional dancing (a painful and demanding job in its own right, not knocking it, but I don't _listen_ to dance except maybe tap dance), dancing along with singing is VERY OPTIONAL. And special effects are for sci-fi movies, not for music. Aside from some careful and not very dramatic moves in opera or musicals, I can't think of many example OUTSIDE OF POP where someone actually sings (not just lip-syncs) and dances at the same time.

I remember Grace VanderWaal doing that at one of her concerts. It was a pretty cool moment and I'm sure that fan will never forget it.

Yes I heard it for years, Jackie can't do that for this reason and can't do that for that reason. Always some reason why Jackie can't do something. I never hear anything of the other artist in that respect, they work around issues. Olivia can not dance like Tate McRae but she does good enough to please her audience, They don't expect her to have Tate's ability but they sure expect her to show some enthusiasm in her music not just stand and sing at a mic. Yes Jackie will please some by doing that. But you can expect her to just have a few small concerts a years. As much as the big retails stores have cut back on space for music CDs I would be very surprised if they will even carry Jackie's next album.
Edit: Jackie showed she can do more that just stand at a mic and sing to a older audience.
Hard to believe Kitty was the same person as her last concerts.

And a one, and a two, and a... "Starrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry starrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry niiiiiiiiiiiiiigt" ...
It's been a long time since I've seen Jackie perform aside from skipping through vids on YT or Instagram. I can't really watch them for longer because I can't deal with her syrupy emoting. It's fake as hell, I'm sorry, but it's weird. I remember being frustrated with the excruciatingly viscous tempo of some songs so I hope the Joni album is lively at least.
Bottom line is I just want her to release something. The Debut doesn't seem to be a favorite of anyone here, but I was actually excited to hear it. I think it vocally represents the arrival of her natural adult voice (or as she put it, her "new voice"). The song "She Used to be Mine" is the best example, but I haven't heard her do that very much since the album. Joni's young voice was so clear and natural, so I hope Jackie drops the Phantom of the Opera style in favor of the youthful adult voice we know she's now capable of.

I would prefer Jackie to sing more lively songs than she normally does. Jackie did a very good job with Sia's unstoppable.
