Isn't it interesting how Colty posts all kinds of nonsense every day, far worse than Beachguy or anyone else, with most posts being directed at other posters. Yet the only time Socal Fan comes along and deletes a few posts is when someone posts something back at Colty. Then he deletes that post and a couple of Colty posts that triggered it. While doing nothing about all of the other many posts every day. This fool should have been banned long ago or confined to a different section. But I do have to hand it to Colty in one sense...he runs this forum now. |

I will say this , I understand that her last several albums have been a flop , and she needs to produce a album 💿 that more will like, I just can’t get past that beautiful voice of hers , I know for many that isn’t enough to go to her concerts or buy her music 🎶 she must come up with a new Jackie and only time will tell if she is successful, being a fan I will be pulling for her!

I'm a Jackie fan, and I've been underwhelmed by some of her later albums. Except for her re-doing Somewhere, which I liked, I hardly listened to the Debut album at all. Part of that was due to just not being interested in that genre. I've listened to COT far more. I've actually really enjoyed some of the COT stuff. Not a fan of her renditions of Both Sides Now so much, but really like Rainy Night House. Interesting, because Jackie mentioned that was her favorite on the album as well. I listened to Two Hearts a little more than The Debut, but really not a lot either. I always like Jackie's voice...I think it simply comes down to song choice, genre, and in some cases how she changes it to make it her own (see Both Sides Now - there's a note change that drives me nuts - lol) |

Usually, he does not cross the line (he typically says that another poster is anti-Jackie, which is not particularly disparaging). Sometimes, this will provoke a disparaging response which does cross the line. I will then delete the response and the original post. However, Colt46 sometimes posts too often and the posts are repetitive. I may ask him to post less frequently. |

I am much less optimistic. Here's why. As far as I can tell (and please correct me if I am wrong) Greg Camp has not written any songs or albums that have appeared on any significant Billboard chart since 2003. That was when he wrote songs for the Smash Mouth album "Get the Picture?". He wrote songs for the Smash Mouth 2006 album "Summer Girl" but it did not chart. He also released a 2008 album "Defektor" but it also did not chart. Bottom line: Greg Camp has had no songwriting success in the last 2 decades. If he cannot write successful songs for himself, is there any reason to think he can help Jackie write songs for herself? I think it's definitely a long shot. But seems to me a former "hit song writer on one album 20 years ago" is better than a "never has written a hit song writer". Jackie will take what she can get, and it will be interesting to see what they came up with. long odds of success aside.  How is it that Jackie gets a writer that hasn't been successful in 20 years and Kenzie's friends Dylan Conrique gets Max Martin to help with her original "Birthday Cake" and Alexis Jayde gets Finneas (Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, collaborate on songwriting. Finneas writes for Eilish's albums, produces her music, and also performs in live shows . He also performed on live shows with Lexi Jayde.

It's quite simple - they are signed to major labels who can afford Max Martin, etc. In the case of Lexi Jayde, she is signed to the same label as Billie Eilish so obviously there was a connection there as well. You are actually comparing apples to oranges as the two you mentioned are four years or more into their career as pop singers. Compared to where they were when they started (on indie labels with no-name producers), which is where Jackie is in this phase, it is not any worse. If Jackie were to attain any critical or commercial success (relatively speaking), bigger names might get on board.

If we are talking about Jackie having a chart topping album or some other sign of stardom, then you are correct - that is unlikely to happen. The optimism is from not setting expectations to unrealistic levels. All one can hope from Greg Camp and Jackie is that their combination can come up with some good songs and produce an album that is capable of carving out a niche in a very fragmented landscape. If there is a good artistic effort, then there is a definite path to carve out an audience. This doesn't mean instant chart success but picking up a new audience to build upon. I am not expecting miracles here but just a fresh start.
