Definitely not her cello playing, but I appreciate that they made the effort. There are way too many scenes out there showing people randomly wiggling their fingers pretending to type or play an instrument. This one got enough things right to make it work. Jenna took cello lessons and fencing lessons. No way in 8 months of filming and the tight schedule could she learn enough to play the cello that good, but it was enough that she probably learned the proper hand placements. But is seams like a lot of people just liked the song "Paint it Black" done with a cello no matter who was playing it. |

Just shows what commitment some people have for their careers, Jenna had the role of Wednesday whether she learned how to play the cello, take fencing lessons or choreograph her own dance for the movie or not.
People seem to love her character I kept track of her instagram followers since 11-12-22 as I think after that most of her fan gains was because of her exposure promoting the series, the series started on 11-23-2022 and in that time period she gained 4,224,431 new followers. The big test will come if they announce a season 2 but all indications is that they will.
Jenna Ortega is so fricken tiny I can't even imagine her carrying the Cello around. Then I guess she played this also. As Maddie - Z is getting more acting roles, Jenna will definitely be a good friend to know.

But now that Wednesday has been out since 11/23/2022 how is it doing. wednesdaynetflix Verified #1 in 83 countries, and 341.2 million hours watched in 1 week - a Netflix record. I haven't been this happy since I got my first grave digging kit. To be renewed for season 2 my guess is Netflix will just go with the money and not worry about anything else. Jenna Ortega has gained over 8 million new instagram followers since it came out.
One of the most loved scenes is the dance Jenna choreographed herself which fitted this series perfectly.

The scene was created by capturing the movements performed by a professional dancer wearing a green-screen suit, then the dance movements and facial expressions were copied to Jenna's body by using CGI.

Here Jenna made a video putting on the dress. Why would Netflix say she choreographed the dance, when they know that if she didn't it would come out later. Boy Jenna is a little thing I bet she doesn't weigh 130lbs
Jenna Ortega in Wednesday is OTTs proof, no matter what Jackie's OTTs say and post about her they can't do anything about actual stats. Nobody is accusing Jenna Ortega of stealing someone intellectual properties. Like a couple of girls did from Netflix's Bridgerton

Saw Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary on Hulu last night. I hated that kind of jazz in the day, I thought it was screechy, but I started to get it and stuck with the film to better understand his methods and madness. I learned a lot about the man and his career that I didn't know. All told, he was a principled and restless genius.

This is a cellist's critique of the Wednesday soundtrack in several scenes. He doesn't go into Jenna Ortega's technique much except to say he appreciates her preparation and the editing put into getting it right. Other scenes focus on the cello music in Danny Elfman's score, including a couple that don't include Ortega. He also thinks other cellist's will appreciate the cello being featured in the show. He's obviously a fan, and his comments throughout are interesting.
