With all their BS about she has perfect pitch from Judges that knew nothing about music. I've seen her give a bit of side-eye when one violinist in an orchestra hit an off note. Her control is good, and she HEARS every detail. So whether her sense of pitch is perfect absolute or within 1 Hz relative, it's very dang good indeed.

My sentiments exactly. There's a reason why they call it show biz. That's why I've long believed that voice and talent are irrelevant. And why my opinions are irrelevant. Money is the only thing that matters. The riffle of packs of $100 bills is not my favorite sound. So it's second next to the jingling of your gold coins?

From the very beginning AGT decided they were going to build Jackie up. With all their BS about she has perfect pitch from Judges that knew nothing about music. Lisa used to drag Jackie to singing contest through out the United State and she never won any of them. She got on AGT by luck as she couldn't make the auditions twice before. You are absolutely right. She was able to sing opera songs as a young kid and she sang them better than most kids because most kids wouldn't be caught dead singing that genre. But she wasn't good enough even for Foster when he had her on his show before AGT and he passed on her, as well as AGT did TWICE. Then Lisa's pandering on CC message boards got her on the AGT Youtube show. But the BIG FACTOR that came into play was the Susan Boyle media hoopla at that time. She thrust the idea of a totally unexpected person singing that genre very well and many viewers were not that familiar with the genre and liked what they heard. And then Jackie showed up, WHEN AMERICA WAS DESPERATE FOR THEIR OWN MEDIA HERO, and she was another person, a small child, who you would not expect to sing opera/CC songs and she did better than expected due to the coaching she got from Yvie. Suddenly Foster was interested to capitalize on the hype as well. And the rest is history. As I have always said, RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME. Had Emanne Beasha or Laura Bretan been on AGT at that time instead of later, it would have been one of them. But they did not have that luck even though they also had the same talent. And to many who saw Jackie, she was the first opera/CC singing kid they had heard so the others who came later did not have the same shock value, and by that time interest in the genre had faded significantly. Emanne had a shot, but Covid hit exactly when her North American tour with Andre Rieu was about to start. And that was bad luck. Looks like Andre Rieu found another young girl to work with. Do you think Jackie could do this better, I know from the past Jackie's fans would be saying she is going to ruin her voice the same thing they said about Zara Larson.

Yeah - for some reason, CC seems to be limited to a small number of songs that are repeated over and over by singers in the genre - i.e The Prayer, Con Te Partiro, etc. We can't blame Jackie for getting tired of those same old songs and for wanting to try something new. It's a little sad though, as that style was able to really highlight the fantastic bell tone she had in her youth. I was hoping that more original songs would be released similar to "Take Me There", "Open Fields of Grace" and "Go Time". I think "Take Me There" had radio potential - on a station that favors cheerful songs. But it didn't get promoted as a single.

The riffle of packs of $100 bills is not my favorite sound. Agreed. Fortunately, I have good news for all of us. As of now, BME has 20687 plays on Spotify. At $0.003 per play, BME will have earned Jackie $62 after more than a month of release. Not enough for a single $100 bill, let alone packs of them. I can therefore report with great relief that Jackie fans are clearly in no imminent danger of being assaulted by the sound of the riffling of packs of $100 bills. Whew! Sadly, Grace Vanderwal has 9 times the number of Spotify monthly listeners than Jackie. So I am unable to offer the same reassurances to Grace's fans.

I liked all those original songs but radio hits? "Take Me There" sounds like the theme song of a Mary Tyler Moore Show revival spinoff, filmed in a leased run-down Burbank backlot, with non-union scab actors, using a script dug out of a dumpster behind the Hollywood Charity Rest Home, and filmed on a TV camera borrowed from a guy who salvages copper wiring from an abandoned television equipment rental warehouse. Okay song, but no.

Change Mary Tyler Moore to Sanford and Son and you gotta deal.

Grace has been writing ✍️ songs for a long time , writing ✍️ music that is more popular than what Jackie sings so of course her numbers are better than Jackie’s, So onto a new chapter In trying to write ✍️ music that will resonate with a younger audience, it will take time !

Olivia Rodrigo teamed up with American Express and gave a surprise concert to their card holders.
Then she put the concert on her youtube channel so everyone could watch it. Far cry from Mike-E not allowing cameras and taking down youtubes from all the people he claims are stealing from Jackie. To think he is still Jackie's manager and people wonder why she is doing so bad.

Far cry from Mike-E not allowing cameras and taking down youtubes from all the people he claims are stealing from Jackie. Hasn't happened in years (more recent camera bans are venue policy - not everywhere, distracts fellow patrons; most allow non-flash still photos). Lose the ancient history talking points. What do you want, them to pay extra for a photographer, recording rights, the venue cut, the musician's cut, and then put it on YouTube free? if you're making millions, that might be a PR tax write-off, but otherwise it's a thou or more for a few hundred likes, not remotely break-even even if it was 100,000 views.

That Olivia Rodrigo show was sponsored, so it's not like she does a filmed concert for every show. I'm sure she negotiated for the right to post it. She gets YT revenue, American Express gets the celebrity advertising.
But she has the star power to attract this kind of sponsorship deal. I can see why people like her – she sings with a smile, she plays piano, she's purdy, and writes songs that young people can relate to. I like her ok, but I still give Billie Eilish the credit for launching the genre/style that Olivia sings in. It's not ground breaking, but it's a currently popular and listenable style, and her songs fit into it very well.
