LoL...all I'm saying is that while Jackie might have wanted to look good/fashionable, even sexy for the first scene, clearly the song is about her struggle with mental illness...so that's where my attention was focused, not on how hot she looks. Nothing wrong with thinking she looks good there, but that's not the point of the song at all. lol "She is soooo hot and sexy, singing about how her mental illness is ruining her existance". See what I mean? lol While the former may be true, it just seems odd in this case to be focusing on that. There is no "mental illness vs. sex" dichotomy. it's "both/and" rather than "either/or." It just so happens that Jackie has been dressing in her public appearances and photo shoots in a much more provocative manner than in the past. Whether one thinks it is Jackie finally demonstrating her independence or the influence of Christina, it is a fact and the video is just more of the same. So it is not really shock that she would dress in a way one might call "sexy" since that is how she has been dressing recently anyway. Certainly, the video director would favor that since he is well aware that an attractive young woman showing legs and a bare midriff will likely keep the audience's attention longer than an attractive young woman wearing a burqa. Agreed, you can look sexy while singing about your debilitating mental illness. It's just that when that is the case, you wouldn't normally focus much on how hot she looks...you'd focus on the subject of the mental illness she is trying to relay to us. lol That's why I didn't really think Jackie was TRYING to look "hot"...that would seem to be out of place based on the subject matter of her song. But, we all know that Jackie likes to dress up and sometimes wear low cut outfits...and she may have just thought this was an opportunity to be seen doing that. IF she was trying to look sexy, it just seems out of place here to me. On the other hand, new people hearing this song who don't know her history of mental illness might have no idea what the songs lyrics are about, and in that case looking "hot" in the beginning of a video with a catchy tune might be away to try and draw in new male fans. lol

So you expect to read YouTube and not see fans talking good about her. That's nonsense. That's like watching Fox news and expecting them to talk good about democrats or CNN and expecting them to talk good about Republicans. Of course fans can say good things about her and compliment her. There's a difference between that and attacking people who don't care for her voice, or a particular song, or say they prefer her soprano voice to her pop voice, etc. They have the right to state their opinion, just as members here have the right to not like other singers, and they say so. One fan in particular, who still posts here, is infamous for attacking people. The E's made it clear that they didn't like that because they knew that it didn't help Jackie, it hurt her. There's no reason to go on an entertainer's social media and say her song/video about her own mental illness sucks. lol That's not nice, and you would expect some fans to defend Jackie in that case...I certainly would. It depends on how they criticize the song including the manner in which they do it. If they politely offer constructive criticism...nothing wrong with that. I actually pointed out in the comments to Jackie that Smoking Gun sounds awesome sped up (I didn't say it sounded worse or bad at the speed she released it however). But if you don't like the video, then leave, give it a thumbs down, whatever. But to just say you don't like it is mean, especially considering in this case she is writing about her own struggles and using that as a tool to help heal herself. It's unrealistic to not expect some Jackie fans to defend her if some comments are rude, inappropriate, too negative, etc. You can call it White Knightism if you want, and mabye some of that is the case, but some are just protective of Jackie.

ROFL! A number of things going on. The interior/exterior dichotomy can certainly include image as well as relationship and confidence and perfectionism and perhaps other issues. None of which preclude a certain physicality of appeal, but might imply some uncertainty whether it actually worked - not helped by the more militant of those that disapprove to an unrealistic degree, perhaps.

[Confused Math Lady woman Meme video] What, too many hard words? Admittedly I was trying to be politely indirect with the last sentence. But it's all less complicated than it sounds. More than one meaning can be intended. For example, I think the makeup was flawless on the low-color part but perhaps less so on the very colorful part, intentionally I think - the perfectionism issue (and another aspect of image too, maybe). So there could be a lot of details going on. Likewise, to be a tad more direct, yes, Jackie is gorgeous, but with image issues she may not believe that, and polarized feedback that divides into inappropriately complimentary vs "you don't need to look trashy" probably doesn't help.

I was pointing out the complexities of trying to figure out Jackie's motives and understand what's going on in that little head of hers.

I was pointing out the complexities of trying to figure out Jackie's motives and understand what's going on in that little head of hers. Actually, I don't think there is anything complex about Jackie at all. Starting in Junior High (or even earlier) girls start wearing skimpy bikinis, short skirts and low cut tops. (Whether one approves or not is an entirely separate issue.) Sex sells, and every girl and every man knows it. Jackie is simply behaving like a zillion other girls. No more, no less. No complex analysis needed.

I have a couple theories on that. I dont think she's just trying to look hot and sexy on a bed, considering the song's lyrics. lol And a mind with anorexia and body dysmorphia, she might not be thinking what we think she's thinking sometimes.
