That being said, I would go to a Jackie concert with just her original music and some popular contemporary music thrown in. Not sure how much I'd like it, but I'd give it a go for sure. I still think she sings smokey, jazzy, bluesy type music really well, and I'd love to see her do some of that.

Well now we know which definition of "solla" she had in mind.
So what is the someone or something she is losing in the sense of renouncing and relinquishing?
If it is a personal relationship, that might be taken as a particular family member who might be the target in some of the songs. It also could be taken as marking a change as in giving up the CC career for a new direction. Or it could be taken as relinquishing the psychological barriers she put it place to isolate herself and now is stepping outside her comfort zone. Or something else entirely ... Any thoughts?

Perfection, or the need to be perfect in everything she does/did. She lived it, it was with her "my morning, my day and my night" She relinquished it, or has been working on relinquishing it, once she realized putting that kind of unrealistic pressure on herself was affecting her mental health. Imagine the pressure of being a little kid who is supporting her entire family and thinking she had to be a perfectionist in everything she did, esp. professionally. She also mentioned that she felt like her voice was her only worth, not her as a person. It's what her song, "Get Out of My Life" is all about.

A perfectionist will do everything possible to be perfect in what they do. Jackie even brags about only practicing 1 hr a week. Jackie hasn't taken any classes for her singing. Tate McRae, Maddie Ziegler, Olivia Rodrigo and many others say they are perfectionist and they all have spent many hours a week perfecting their skills. Tate McRae even as a young dance who spent over 20 hrs a week in dancing classes still took acting and singing lesson. Olivia Rodrigo even though she was an actor most her life still took singing lessons. And when she started to make it as a singer she took a College class to help her with writing music. It is a hell of a lot easier to just say you are a perfectionist than to actually be one, a true perfectionist will do what it take to become perfect.

It is a hell of a lot easier to just say you are a perfectionist than to actually be one, a true perfectionist will do what it take to become perfect. I don't believe that Jackie has "lied" about being a perfectionist. It has affected her deeply and negatively and even motivated her to writes songs about it and discuss it in interviews. It could just be that you don't know what you are talking about. lol For instance, being a perfectionist professionally doesn't necessarily translate to meaning she would have taken more lessons. It could just mean she is never satisfied with a performance, whether live or in the recording studio. I've heard her speak negatively about live performances before where I think she sounds great, but to her there is this or that wrong with it. And lord knows how many studio takes it takes before she is satisfied. lol Someone who tends to be a perfectionist doesn't necessariy "do all the right things" to become perfect. It is more likely to be a moment to moment, obsessive compulsive thing, like doing a recording a hundred times because you are just not satified with it. Perfectionist tend to be OCD, that doesn't necessarily translate into a great planner who takes all the right paths to get there. ROFL Someone who is a clear thinking and hard worker and takes all the right steps to be good at something isnt necessarily a perfectionist. They are just likely hard working, dedicated, passionate about what they are doing, and a clear minded, good planner. That is all good. Seeking perfection, on the other hand, is quite unhealthy. That isnt a clear headed, reasonable, rational, healthy person usually. It's more likely someone with obsessive tendencies, and that isn't a good thing. There is a difference between striving for excellence and seeking perfection. One is good and healthy, within reason...the other is bad, unhealthy and can lead to mental health issues as it is unreasonble, unachievable, and puts a great deal of pressure on the person psychologically. A perfectionist is rarely happy or satisfied with anything they do, and that is a sad place to be in.

So what is the someone or something she is losing in the sense of renouncing and relinquishing? Perfection, or the need to be perfect in everything she does/did. "Solla" refers to an incantation to "celebrate the loss of something or someone you loved". I don't think the object of loss is perfection because that was not something that she ever loved. Rather, perfection was something that was forced unwillingly on her by some people around her. Perfection was a burden that she was happy to get rid of. So I think that the object of loss is CC. CC brought Jackie fame and fortune and changed her life. So she very much loved and was grateful to it but she now realizes that there is no long term future in CC. So she has made a "deliberate renunciation" of CC, "consciously deciding to relinquish it to an earlier part of her life". How successful this switch will be is yet to be seen.

Oh, I definitely think it is perfection. An obesession is something you embrace (until you realize how unhealthy it is)...it becomes everything to you. She said she embraced it when she was younger, and thought it was the right way to be...so she welcomed it. It was with her 24/7...it was her everything. It wasnt until later that she realized it was a bad thing and was damaging her mental health. Almost all she has talked about in recent years pertaining to music on this EP has been losing this obsession with needing to be perfect. She also said someone(s) who worked with her instilled that perfection drive in her and that they will know who they are when they hear the song, "Get out of My Life". Its all about perfection. You think she wrote a song teliing cc music to get out of her life and out of her head? She could stop singing that today if she wanted. Um, no. She doesnt hate cc, and she is still singing a lot of it, even in tomorrow's concert. Jackie doesnt hate her childhood career or the music she sang during it...she has said she looks at it fondly and will never stop singing that type of music. CC music gave her everything professionally...and adoring fan base, fame, money, a singing career, travel, etc. Even though she was tired of being seen as a little girl, and wanted to be seen as the grown woman she is, that's not something stuck in HER head either. She doesn't want cc music "out of her life" or "out of her head". She would like to add more music from more genres to her repertoire though. lol

It is a hell of a lot easier to just say you are a perfectionist than to actually be one, a true perfectionist will do what it take to become perfect. Perfectionism can also be a state of mind – especially in anxiety disorders – that causes someone to take no steps at all. I aspire to be a great guitar player, but when I play guitar it is obvious that I will never be great. My aspirations exceeded my abilities. Face it man, you suck at guitar. Over time the fun and purpose of playing guitar is replaced by internal nagging. Giving the guitar away was the easier path. Quitter. Lazy. All you had to do was put in your ten thousand hours. All valid, but I can claim from personal experience that perfectionism, and how anxiety messes with that, was at the front of the line before anything. I've thought for years that Jackie dabbles in things like violin and piano because, like most people, she aspires to be a musician. She has attempted to play memorized snippets, like her intro to "All of Me" at the Awakening taping, and a few posts on social media, but it's obvious that she is not a piano player. Is it enough for her that people believe she's a piano player? What goes on in her head that keeps her from actually learning to play piano? She has given us a clue as to a possible reason, and it may be that simple. But now the question I would ask her is what does she really want. Now that she's working on purging demons and improving herself, how much of what she thinks she wants is just carryover stuff from childhood that she thought she wanted? Does she really want to play piano? Does she really love what she does? Is perfectionism an excuse to quit, or a motivation to work toward something?

If it is a personal relationship, that might be taken as a particular family member who might be the target in some of the songs. It also could be taken as marking a change as in giving up the CC career for a new direction. Or it could be taken as relinquishing the psychological barriers she put it place to isolate herself and now is stepping outside her comfort zone. Or something else entirely ... Any thoughts?
No. I don't know what it refers to, I never will, and I'm not going to waste time trying to figure it out because I don't really care.

We'll see how many of the people who've grown up with her stick around, but I doubt many mothers are going to take their little girls to see her anymore.

So, don't care about Jackie, her troubles, her mental health challenges, her original music, or what inspires motivates her lyrics, eh? Well, at least we know you aren't a fan, at least not of the adult Jackie. lol

Evidently 50,000 showed up to listen to her at pride week. In 2 weeks JoJo new video has 25.5 million views and is #3 on youtube trends. That is one hell of a coming out in a new direction. To tell the truth I didn't think JoJo could pull this off.
