Mike and Lisa banned msims and Rick twice? Hahahahahahaha...now that is hilarious. Matt was banned because he published a link to a Jackie video or audio that he was not authorized to publish. I thought the ban was unreasonable and I argued against it. However, I don't recall him being banned twice. It was Jackie Junkies who got in trouble with Lisa for posting a link to "Blank Space". If I recall correctly, Lisa gave Jackie Junkies a sneak preview of the song by sending him the link. JJ published the link without the Es' permission and Lisa went ballistic (understandably so). I don't recall the specifics, but I believe that msims got booted for his constant kissing up to the E's. He was trying to become Jackie's "special fan" who had an inside track with Lisa. Lisa denied that he held that position, and then finally, she gave him the boot.

There was no contractual obligation for JJ to not share it. That doesn't warrant giving him the boot from a fan site...at worst he's a fan who couldn't contain his excitement. It might warrant her being annoyed and never giving him another preview link again however. lol Sounds like they were running this "fan club" with an iron fist. Wrong approach. You run it being grateful that fans want to frequent it, and you welcome all, including OTTs. The only time you boot someone is for extreme behavior, like threats, stalking, attacking Jackie or the family, or seriously disrupting the forum. I also think it would have been smart to have a non-family member running it...mabye a friend of the family or volunteers.

JEFC was an interesting place with a mix of normals and OTTs. Mostly good chatter. One guy, though, his picture included Jackie from, I suppose, a meet and greet. He was the high-count poster, but most of his posts were usually short and rather inane.

LoL...I keep thinking that socal will eventually change the banner without prompting. But since that doesn't appear to be happening...hey socal, isn't it time to change the banner?

The only reason I paid and joined the fan club was the promise of access to presale tickets and promotions. You were also offered to receive a gift package upon payment to the club. I’ve never received my gifts but I did score some good presale tickets, which is the main reason why I joined.

I lost track of Jackie for about three years after AGT, so I guess I missed all of that, but would have joined I'm sure had I not last track of her post AGT career. I think I stumbled on her Instagram/FB when she was about 14, and had A LOT of catching up to do.

It's true that there was no contractual obligation between JJ and Team E, but JJ always sought ways to boost himself in the eyes of other fans, rather than attempting to bring attention to Jackie. I didn't get the feeling that the forum was run with an iron fist because Lisa regularly showed an infinite amount of patience with some individuals. But there were a few members at JEFC that were so extreme in their behavior that Team E had to deal with them to maintain some level of normality in the forum. However, when the hammer was finally put down, it happened in a big way.

Didn't you have to pay to even join their site. Sounds like the parents shouldn't have been running that. lol It always seemed like the parents never took into account the fact that it was the fans who were forking out the money to support that family.

If Lisa and Mike were angry at a fan for some issue, they would paint a broad brush across all of Jackie's fans, assuming the worst about all of them. Their attitude towards fans can be summarized when Lisa said "F them" on Growing Up Evancho.

Am I mistaken in recalling that the forum was an official Sony/Columbia website? The reason I'm recalling it this way is that, after waiting ages for my sign-up gifts, I became frustrated enough to bypass M&L, and contacted the label directly. I got my stuff quickly in the mail. It was a tote bag, a key fob, and other stuff that I don't recall. I felt like I was the last one to get the gift package because the forum was killed shortly after.
I thought the forum was like any other forum I'd been to, except for OTTs – that was a new one I'd never experienced. You could be scolded online or (mostly) in your DMs for the most benign comments. I fought back on occasion but mostly just took note of who the a-hole was for future reference, and ignored their intrusions.
The worst kind of fans (as I thought then, and still) were the ones who acted like they were Jackie OGs. Founding fathers. Among the worst of these were a cabal of Houston concert veterans who I found rude and arrogant. There were also the white knights, the moral guardians of the little angel - a few of which are still around. Generally though, the OG OTTs who are still alive are still out there (and here) trying to control discussions, guard the gates of fandom, disparage anyone with an unwanted opinion, exaggerating Jackie's relevance and popularity, etc. Speaking glowingly of Jackie is great, but trying to assert some kind of seniority-authority is another thing. I have no patience for these peckerwads.

I expect Lisa and Mike would have communicated with their own children with the same degree of intelligence, care and understanding they applied to Jackie's fans and other supporters: shallow thinking and short shrift answers. I think that's their style. And unto them a child is born. Poor kids.
