One of the songs I didn't get on my video. I've always really liked Jackie's singing of this song. =) The video is fine but the audio is horrendous, just one of the reasons Mike didn’t like fans posting her concerts besides the stealing from Jackie nonsense. 😮 So, watch the video mute and play this in the background. I still think Jackie should do a tribute album to Karen Carpenter! Jackie sings Karen’s songs so well!

I think the strategy of releasing an album of covers is likely to fail. Why would anyone listen to Jackie when they could just as easily listen to the original artist?
Of course, Jackie fans would listen to Jackie but these days, they are few and far between.

Unfortunately for Jackie, and I’ve posted quite a few of them, there’s loads of talented singers just as capable or even superior to Jackie.

In 2010, Jackie was special because very very few 10 year olds had a voice as beautiful as hers. Now, Jackie still has a beautiful voice but is no longer special because lots of adults have as beautiful a voice.

Sure, we knew she would have to mix in some of her old music to have enough material for a full show. But she only sang two of her EP songs, sticking them in towards the end of her last two shows, more of an insecure afterthought than something she can't wait to perform in front of live audiences.

Just want to add my two cents to the question of whether or not Jackie was really sought out by Disney.
I don't get what people would find unusual about this happening. Just as some people still project Jackie's past success into the present, others are projecting current problems into the past. At the time, Disney was always looking out for young talent and signing them up to use in TV shows, films, and music. At the time (not any longer), Disney was all about projecting an image of wholesome family entertainment - even if that image was illusory. They normally took some kid, created a backstory and image, and made them a star. It doesn't matter if they can't act: it was all about whether they could take someone and create an image around them to sell to middle America.
The prototype was Hilary Duff as Lizzie McGuire. They made hundreds of millions off that girl (she made many millions herself) by creating an image they projected onto Hilary. Then you had Raven Symone (the black Hilary) both in her TV show and the Cheetah Girls franchise. Disney squashed any rumors Raven was gay until she left the Disney fold and immediately came out (everyone in the business knew she was gay since she hit puberty). They even made some down home trailer trash like Miley Cyrus look wholesome. They even kept a lid on Bella Thorne's antics for a few years.
Jackie would have been a piece of cake for the marketing team Disney had back then. She was already wholesome (unlike Miley), could sing without heavy auto-tuning (unlike Hilary), and certainly wasn't a total wild child (like Bella). They could have created their own image for her (it doesn't have to resemble reality) and had handlers who could teach her to sing, dance, be minimally proficient on an instrument, etc. Jackie has always done well with professional handlers and I see no reason to think it couldn't have happened there. But it would be a totally different Jackie then the one you know. It would be the Disney channel version of Jackie where Disney controlled every aspect of her image, her social media posts would have to be approved or they would handle it themselves, etc.
There are a lot of reasons this would not have met with approval by Lisa. First of all, it would mean moving the family to LA and ceding control of Jackie's career to Disney's handlers. It would also mean the finances would be under the stricter rules in place in California under the Coogan laws. Then there is the cost of living that could offset any gains in her income. Most of all, I just don't see Lisa sitting still while Disney people come in and take over Jackie's career.

I'm glad you added the part about Lisa...I think she would have been difficult for Disney to deal with. Also, a lot of what you say is true about Jackie being the ideal, wholesome, cute singer that you would think Disney would love to snap up and make into a Disney star of sorts. I remember being surprised that it didn't happen, back in the day. As far as the names you mentioned, the kids who were grabbed by Disney and made into stars...they all had a lot more self confidence, more interesting personalities, and stronger natural acting skills than Jackie had.

The whole problem of what to play is why I thought Jackie headlining concerts at this point was a bad idea. She should have sought a gig as a supporting act for some other alt-pop style singer. Not necessarily a major act like Lana Del Ray (that would be great but unlikely at this point) but one appearing in smaller halls. She could then appear before audiences predisposed to hear her new style. She would also have an "out" to avoid the old songs since this is strictly a contemporary pop concert - so long as she let everyone know ahead of time that would be the case. Her set would be smaller and she could fill in by testing out some unreleased or even unrecorded originals and covers of pop songs in the same genre. It would also give her a chance to develop her live performance in her new genre.

I don't really see her wanting to be reduced to opening for someone else with songs she seems to still lack confidence in singing live, even in front of her friendly fan base. To do what you suggest would require a total mindset change on her part, and a huge boost of confidence in her own material.

There were a few Disney child stars who were legitimately good at acting, but most were at best proficient or mediocre. Some were downright awful. As far as confidence goes, it doesn't really matter since it is the vehicle and not the person who matters at that stage. Sure, there are some Disney child stars who had a lot of confidence - the most recent example being Olivia Rodrigo. On the other hand, Lindsay Lohan was just the opposite and ended up a basket case. Somewhere in the middle, Selena Gomez had suffered from body image issues and panic attacks (kind of sounds like Jackie) but has managed to overcome them and is still a big star.
I am not saying she should have gone to Disney. There are good things and bad things. On the good side, it improves your chances at lasting stardom. On the bad side, they don't give a damn whether you have stardom beyond the few years they are milking your stardom for cash. They also don't care about your happiness or mental health before and after your tenure. You are a commodity and nothing more.

If she wants to change genres, she needs to realize that not all her old fans will be on board and she has to make new ones to grow. She also should realize her old fanbase isn't exactly packing the house anyway. If she wants to go back to CC, then do it. If she wants to be alt-pop, then do that. I don't see anything could coming out of the first option and her only chance at growth being the second option. But what I know will fail is this attempt at a hybrid that no one asked for ever.

Another risk for doing Disney is getting typecast. That has happened to many young actors over the years.

Another risk for doing Disney is getting typecast. That has happened to many young actors over the years. Those days are long gone, mainly do to social media, young artist don't need large companies to get their music out. Disney did let Olivia Rodrigo out of her contract for "High School Musical" to pursue her singing career that would have delayed her for a year or so and she couldn't have done her "Sour Tour". Olivia also left Disney's music label. Olivia touts "Driver's License " as her debut song, but actually her first song she wrote was under Disney's label called "All I want" she wrote it in 3 days while doing the show. Notice the song is under Disney Label and that it got 235 million views. I guess they never should have told her they would let her write and sing a song for her "High School Musical series.
This is when it was first played for her series. I think if it was all about money they would have made her stick with her contract once they found out about Olivia's writing and singing skills.
