I haven't listened to Jackie's EP in well over a month. My most listened to albums are:
Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft (Easily album of the year, so good, gets better with every listen)
Boy Genius - The Record (I skip the first song, but the rest is very good)
Aurora - What Happened to the Heart? (My first Aurora album. Very Euro)
Honorable mention: Bleachers - Bleachers (Caught them on Kimmel. Solid 10th year album)
Jackie's not the only one that has faded away. I haven't listened to Grace's Letters Vol 1 in awhile. I love it, but it reminds me that she hasn't done much lately. I unfollowed her on IG but will jump back in when she makes more music.

There is NO correlation between the amount of customers, fans, etc and the talent of the performer. Of course not. There can never be any such correlation. Correlation is a mathematical and statistical concept. Talent cannot be quantified which means it is forever beyond the realm of statistics.

I follow Grace but at this point I am not sure what direction she wants to go in. Grace could very well be looking into putting more into acting, seems she loved the publicity she already got from Megalopolis and it's not even out yet. As for you unfollowing Grace I remember when she was pretty quit on social media she said sorry I haven't posted lately I would have already unfollowed myself.

There is NO correlation between the amount of customers, fans, etc and the talent of the performer. Of course not. There can never be any such correlation. Correlation is a mathematical and statistical concept. Talent cannot be quantified which means it is forever beyond the realm of statistics. Singing is just like acting, you can't put a quantitative value on it. But there are numbers that work for both mainly social media.
Maddie Ziegler friend just posted a trailer of a movie she stars in that will be out Sept. 6
She got 1,213,401 likes in 2 hours if it was a youtube video it would be considered going viral. You get several times more views than you get likes as most people do not click the like button.
Warner Brother released the Trailer 2 hrs before Jenna
826,900 views but only 23k likes if you transferred that ratio to Jenna's post it would be about 43 million views but my guess is she got about 10,000,000 views in 2 hr.
Does any body believe the people willing to put their money behind an actor or singer's career because of who says who is talented or do they go by what the public likes and are willing to pay for. You can bet Jenna got a good chunk of change for that post. Sort of ironic that Jenna and Olivia worked together when they were young and both went in opposite directions, but both are at the top of the rung in in their careers, one acting and the other singing. I guess nobody informed them about trying to go from child actor to grownup performer as it seemed so natural for them. But one look at Jackie today at that baseball game shows just how much over the years she and her team has tried to make her look like a 10yr old even up to the age of 24.
The original Beatlejuice came out in 1988 and they kept some of the original actors like Michael Keaton who is 72 years old now.

On the whole authenticity and talent vs. success:
First off, they are unrelated. There are successful artists who are immensely authentic and talented; there are also successful artists who are neither. This is not an either/or situation. Taking talent as a benchmark, you have to ask "What kind of talent?" Do we mean singing talent? Singing what kind of songs? Singing CC, rock, dance pop, alt pop, jazz, r&b, country, etc., all require different abilities. For CC it is primarily technical; for other genres it is an ability to connect with the song and listener via voice projection, phrasing, adjusting the voice to match the emotional content, and so forth.
Initially, I didn't think Jackie was capable of conveying such things because of her introverted nature. I think I even once referred to her as "swagless." I adjusted my view given her appearance on TMS where, in particular, her performance of Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman" produced a sufficient amount of swag. I have seen it in spurts since but not to that degree. Then there is songwriting talent ... Jackie has been credited as a songwriter or co-songwriter on about a dozen songs and some of them are good but she hasn't written a signature song yet. I would like to see her continue her collaboration with Greg Camp as he seems to have given her the confidence to move forward. I would also like to see her expand her subject matter and even try some upbeat songs with good hooks, some rock songs, and generally broaden her style horizons.
Turning to authenticity, this is important in a genre like alt-pop. Honestly, even with some flaws, Solla is the first time in a long time that I think we have seen the person Jackie is as an adult. Her last few albums struck me as something she settled for because they wouldn't let her do her own songs. This strikes me as Jackie attempting to find her own musical self. It may be imperfect, you may not really like it at all, but this seems to be where her head is at the moment. All along, I said I wanted to see her do the music she wants and see where it takes her. I think this is the first attempt at that and we will see where it does take her. Despite what some people might think, I believe this is the authentic Jackie at the moment. I fully acknowledge that may change in the future, but that decision is Jackie's - not ours.
Finally, let's turn to success. Obviously, Jackie had a successful run early in her career by any objective standard. For a CC singer, it was spectacular. Success must be relative to the intent of the artist. What would be counted as successful as a CC or an alt/pop act is very different from success as a mainstream pop act. For example, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo have comparable levels of success but as an alt/pop act, Billie's success is off the charts. In an even more extreme example, Miles Davis has three platinum albums. That is impressive for anyone but considering he is an experimental jazz trumpeter at a time when jazz was shrinking in popularity in large part due to the experimental influences musicians like Davis were promoting, it is an amazing accomplishment. The point here is that Jackie's future success needs to be measured not according to what Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo are doing, but how she is doing as a newcomer in her chosen genre.

how she is doing as a newcomer in her chosen genre Is Jackie really a "newcomer"? How many newcomers: 1. Have been signed to a label with their new genre? 2. Have sung solo with their new genre on national TV as Jackie sang BME on GMA? 3. Appeared on Live in the Vineyard with their new genre which was a sponsored event in Napa in Nov 2023? 4. Perform solo concerts with their new genre ? 5. Are able to support themselves with their music with their new genre? Without waiting tables or flipping burgers?

The point here is that Jackie's future success needs to be measured not according to what Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo are doing, but how she is doing as a newcomer in her chosen genre. In reality Jackie is starting over! The others are established artists! Jackie has been singing professionally for 14 years. It just takes minor changes to go from CC to Pop and vice versa. Olivia Rodrigo is a newcomer she started her singing career 3 years ago and Jackie already had pop songs out. If anything The Masked Singer showed that Jackie could both sing pop and even have the stage presence for it. Olivia was an Actor since she was very young. Tate McRae is another newcomer but she went from a competitive dancer to a singer. There is no comparison how easy it is to change singing genres as opposed to go from actor or dancer to singer. Jackie just doesn't have the work ethics and she is not independent like the other. Could Jackie actually mentally handle a long tour with out her family members along. Olivia writes song while on tour or when she was on the set of her Disney show. All we hear about Jackie is excuses why she couldn't do this or can't do that. Many people see Jenna Ortega getting all these acting roles and think how lucky she is. But Maddie said Jenna hasn't had time off except for Christmases since she worked with her and that is when they were 16 (Jenna is 3 days older than Maddie) and now they will be 22 in September. I think when Jackie was younger she just got to used to people like David Foster coming along and pulling her wagon. Mike could just lay at the pool and wait for phone calls, I doubt that Mike ever did any real work getting Jackie some gigs. Those days are over and Mike knows it and seems to be abandoning ship now.

Is Jackie really a "newcomer"? No, she isn't a "newcomer" at all, she's a HAS BEEN. A has been circus act who parroted opera songs at a young age and won the lotto because several bizarre unique events all occurred at the same time. That is her ONLY claim to fame. Since then she won't go away to pursue her inevitable burger flipping career even though the circus left town years ago, because some old clowns keep telling her the circus will come to town again any day now.
