But if I'm wrong and Greg has a hit left in him, wouldn't he use it for himself or his new band rather than give it to Jackie? Greg Camp wants to establish himself as a producer of other artists. The best option he has at the moment is Jackie. Sure, if he got a chance to produce Miley Cyrus, his priorities would shift. But that is unlikely. As for his own band, I don't think he is necessarily going for hits but just to be able to play smaller venue gigs and a creative outlet. The probability of a bunch of middle age guys with beer bellies breaking out is remote.
If Greg Camp knows any magic tweaks, he has kept this skill well hidden for the last two decades. The hits Greg had were with Smash Mouth before Steve Harwell (lead singer) went off the deep end. Harwell was a very charismatic performer whose voice suited Camp's songs. After Harwell's young son died of leukemia, he went into a spiral of alcoholism, drug abuse, and mental illness and it all fell apart. I have no idea if Camp wrote any songs that were potential chart toppers since then but he was trying to establish a solo career and he is simply not a captivating performer in the way Harwell had been. Camp and Harwell were really perfect for each other in terms of Harwell's performance projecting Camp's songs.
It is not just that Greg has shown no magic talents in 20 years. He has been working since Apr 2023 on producing Solla. During that time, he has made no songwriting suggestions that have made Solla popular. Could be make suggestions for future songs? Hope springs eternal.
It's difficult to get a picture of exactly what went into the recording of Solla but it is important to note that Camp was not involved at all in the writing of the material. The only co-writer mentioned was Anthony Saddic on one song. In fact, Jackie mentioned one song was quite a few years old. The same might apply to some others.
This EP seemed very much like a personal statement for Jackie and I get the picture that Camp was trying to get Jackie the sound she wanted. After BME and Consequences were slow out of the gate, I think perhaps MP asked Camp to remix BME according to suggestions they picked up from industry people and he did so. He might have also done the same for GOOML as that song and BME2.0 sound more obviously "radio and playlist friendly" than the rest of the EP.
You could be right that he has lost his music mojo but that is still an open matter. He certainly was able to retool BME to get some level of traction. Now that she has had her first pop EP released, there may be more expectations that she should come up with something better for a follow-up. This is where Camp could either shine or fail. Now that they have collaborating at least in the studio, she may feel more open to writing songs with him. We'll see.

I just can’t give up someone that I have been a fan of since 2012! Sure you can, Colty! Just close your eyes really tight and say "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!!" Then strain really hard like you're constipated and say "I know I can, I know I can, I know I can!" Try that 3 times and it should work. Check your pants afterwards too.

A couple of us on this site mentioned Jackie should get on the Zach Sing show, Now that Jackie came out with a new album and changing Genre's would be the perfect time. Kenzie got on his show now that she released her new album Grace Vanderwaal, Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande (seems to be a regular on his show), Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus,Madison Beer, Billie Eilish, Slena Gomez and others but no Jackie Evancho. Jackie's Spotify monthly listeners 149,884 Kenzie's Spotify monthly listeners 2,135,809 July 23 Jackie had 156,000 and Kenzie had 2,020,000 Watching the two it is no wonder one is gaining and the other is losing listeners. I hope Jackie learns that she is an adult now and at some point you have to start pulling your own wagon. Jackie needs to have interviews that people actually listen to. Do a simple check and see who popular artist use then get on their show. Jackie would be just the type of person Zach Sing is looking for as long as Jackie was willing to give a truthful interview and not expect him to except her own list of question to ask.

Rachel doesn’t like singing in front of an audience, such a shame! She has great potential in my opinion!

Rachel doesn’t like singing in front of an audience, such a shame! She has great potential in my opinion! She did fine in her duets a couple years ago. And she's apparently in a local band now. So I think she'll get used to it, even if it was like 2017 when she said she wanted to get the nerve, and 2022 when she started to find it. :-)

I hope Rachel keeps it up , music 🎶 can be a great thing for her to be involved in ! Maybe she would be less nervous singing with a group!

I have been making the point that you do not have to be a big star to make good money in streaming if you have a back catalogue people want to hear. Let's look at this month's exhibit thanks to some Grace fan who goes through the trouble of tabulating her Spotify streams by song. Keep in mind Grace has released a grand total of only five new singles in the years 2020-2024, has not toured since 2019, and apart from acting and modeling has been laying low in Savannah, GA and later NYC.
In July, Grace had 3.5 million streams on Spotify alone which got her income of $10,500 for the month. Generally you can double to triple that when you include other streaming platforms which would be 20,000-30,000 for the month. She has been getting 3 million + streams a month on average on Spotify and that would put her at $9,000+ a month or over $100,000+ a year from Spotify. Taking other streamers into account puts it at $200K+ or $300K+ a year. Keep in mind that any advances on these songs were paid off long ago and that is quite a good return on primarily music you did 5-10 years ago.
The point I am making is that Jackie doesn't even need to be that successful to make a living recording music. Lots of singers are doing it with a small audience and making a decent though not spectacular living. Even just 500K streams a month could get her a comfortable life assuming she has a decent nest egg from her early career. All of this would be without considering any concert income. I would think that a greater streaming success would make her a more attractive performer to venues.
