This demonstrates why Jackie is at home these days in alt/pop. Going to a Renaissance Fair is a very "alt" thing to do. If Jackie had been born three decades earlier, she could have been part of Lilith Fair.

I liked Jackie singing that song, I wish there was a a full version of it ! It would be great if she sang a whole concert full of up-tempo songs like this one. She could mix in a few ballads here and there for variety.

I agree , I would also like to see Jackie do more up-tempo songs that her generation can relate to !

Jackie showing her going to the renaissance fair would have been interesting 🧐 in my opinion! Would like to see some videos of Jackie doing things she is interested in !

So what does Jackie appearing as an opener for some alt/pop band most of you had never knew existed in small venues tell us about the current state of her career vs. that state in the past? Well, it first depends on whether you are speaking of her career around 2015 or her career when she first signed with MP. If the latter case, then it tells us something but not necessarily what you think.
If you are speaking of 2015, then her career has declined since then. This shouldn't come as a surprise. Had it remained at the same level, the attempts at rebranding never would have occurred. At most, she might do some pop singles in addition to her standard fare or maybe join one of her siblings in a group as a side project. The decline is not all her fault as CC (at least for the variety with which she is associated) has been in steep decline in the US. But there did not appear to be any understanding of the situation from her team.
If you are talking about her state as related to where she was when she signed with MP, that is a different matter. I believe her situation has improved in one key area: she is doing something about it. Where her career will end up in a few years depends on a lot of factors such as the quality of her future releases. However, there is at least movement on her part to add to what was a rapidly aging fanbase.
As far as the specifics of the tour, Jackie needed to get out in front of an audience more representative of the age range she is targeting to figure out what works for her on stage and what doesn't. It is probably difficult to get work as an opener for pop/rock acts when you are best known for CC. What is she supposed to do - wait at home for a phone call from Lana Del Ray that isn't going to come? It's difficult to find a slot when you've never done it. How do they know you're committed? How can they know if you can perform? The only way to do that is to get out there with someone. It's like the adage of needing experience to get the job but you can't get experience without the job. She could be doing this at cost or even a loss just to get that experience. Then she actually would have a track record of opening for an alt act that demonstrates commitment.

Gigantic deep fried drumsticks is the Renaissance Fair equivalent of hot dogs. I guess it comes from those paintings and drawings of nobility (particularly a fat and happy Henry VIII) devouring such food. In case you're wondering, yes they are delicious.

I believe Rachel is eating a turkey leg ! Makes sense, thanks! Turkey legs are a commonly chosen item for these events, to represent the days that people (that could afford it, not many then) ate dramatic portions of mostly simply prepared food with their hands and an all purpose (self defense as well as tool) knife. There's a Medieval Times location (one of ten widely scattered) near me that serves such items along with live entertainment (jousting matches, costumes, scenes acted out, etc). I guess they're like an indoor renfest without all the walking. For more realism it should maybe be goose legs (since turkeys came from the Americas), but turkey isn't too far off, Henry VIII had turkeys which were still exotic in Europe then at some of his banquets.

Simply put, she's starting from scratch. Anyone starting out would be thrilled to open for an established act. It's an uphill climb, and it should be exciting and fun - at least I hope it is for her.

I am not sure what this arrangement between Jackie and Echosmith is. Neither of them has said anything about the other. Jackie doesn't even follow Echosmith and they don't follow her which is strange when you are going to open for someone.

Jackie doesn't even follow Echosmith and they don't follow her which is strange when you are going to open for someone. I don't think it has to be that complicated. I'm thinking of the people I knew who were in bands in their 20s. Three friends of mine were in bands that released albums. One opened for a name band of the 80s. It was a big deal to them and all their friends. That's what it feels like to start out. My friend's band didn't have any previous relationship with the band they opened for, it was just a good gig, gotten for them by their manager (or whoever). For some of these people I used to hang out with, it was the heyday of their life. None of them are still 'famous' but none of them are unhappy. It was just a phase in their life. Now, Jackie. One way to look at this is that she had her heyday, and then it ended, full stop. She's in a new phase of her life, and (for whatever reason) she's chosen to keep performing. I have to assume that, by now, she has gone through a few stages of grief, and has at least begun to acknowledge that she has to start from scratch. She's very likely a bit stressed out and still grieving the end of her childhood stardom. What do you do in your 20s when you really start to realize that your momma doesn't do your laundry anymore? You have a come-to-Jesus moment. You get serious. You panic even. You start looking at community colleges. You think about who you know that can help you get hired or whatever. You have to make a decision... Her people (whoever they are) got her a gig. Decision made. She doesn't have to go to community college or get a job. She got a gig! A gig that finally has nothing to do with AGT, O Mio Babino Boring, and old geezers. THAT is something to be excited about. Your life is in front of you. You're standing at a threshold. You have to sh!t or get off the pot. Take the gig. See what happens. Hopefully Jackie can say, " Who cares who I'm opening for, at least they're more famous than I am right now." That's how she needs to think about this. She's a young adult - welcome to adulthood. Most people would give anything to be her age again? I hope she can feel that.

Lisa Heller re-posted Echosmith's post and Echosmith commented that they can't wait plus they liked her post.
Jackie did the same thing and no comment or like from them.
This look to be another nothing burger cooked up by Jackie's management. If she really has any management.
