The sad part in this whole saga is that 9 years ago, Jackie did stand out on AGT and had the world at her fingertips. As Piers Morgan said "anyone can sing pop songs" but few could sing like her. Giddy times for fans. Foster came running, as did Oprah, QVC, Leno, and several other talk shows and news channels. TOP OF THE WORLD! What could go wrong? Well, you could shoot yourself in the ass, that's what. This story should really be made into a movie or TV special called "How To Be Your Own Worst Enemy" or something like that. Focussing on the thought process behind shoving the gay and transgender agenda down the throats of her conservative fan base, rather than just SHUTTING UP and not addressing the issue unless asked, then having a polite response like "I support my brother/sister in the difficult decisions he/she is facing." BUT NOOOOOOOOO! Instead, and I'm paraphrasing here "Hey religious fans, my brother is now my sister and if you don't like it, go suck an egg!" That's pretty much what transpired there. And then after that, paraphrasing again, "I guess I will sing for this unpopular president since no one else will, to get in his good books, then try to change his views to suit my agenda....but if he doesn't like it, he can go suck an egg too". So over time, more and more fans dropped off, and some came and went as the ridiculous antics played out, and guess what? Now she is that "anyone can sing pop songs" person. Nothing special at all, just like what Piers Morgan meant. LOL! Some weeks ago I mentioned that it is best to stay away from polarizing political issues if you can, but if you really must speak, do so in support of something you are absolutely committed to and is important to you. If Jackie really wants to speak out on that issue and it really was important to do so, I would respect her right to do so even if I thought it a career mistake - provided it was her idea and she was behind the decision. Now I think given the situation with Juliet, she supported transgender rights, but to tie your career and livelihood to that issue takes it beyond the "I support Juliet in her difficult decision" into an area far more divisive. If that is what Jackie really needed to do, then do it but was this really Jackie's decision or did Lisa direct that move? I lean towards the latter.
In recent days, the abortion issue has also become a center of controversy for some musicians as Planned Parenthood has begun a "Get your bans off our bodies" campaign where entertainers have weighed in supporting abortion rights - another polarizing issue. Of the girls discussed in this thread, both Billie and Grace have weighed in to support this campaign. Given Billie's decidedly weird persona, she will get little negative feedback from fans. Grace, on the other hand, will undoubtedly lose some of whatever middle America folks were left after her various feminist outbursts, nose piercings, and tattoos. It is unlikely to affect her with her current core audience but she will lose some of whatever AGT leftovers were still there. It may help her, though, within the entertainment industry which is decidedly to the left in thinking. In any case, at least she made the decision.
if you are passionate about this issue (in either direction), here is a list of musicians who support the Planned Parenthood "Bans Off My Body" campaign so you know who to (dis)like.

Book It !!! Taylor has a place in New York and her own squad of models and female entertainers who follow her around and fawn over her at every opportunity. If Jackie is willing to kiss her butt and show the proper deference to Queen Tay-Tay, anything is possible.

If Jackie is willing to kiss her butt and show the proper deference to Queen Tay-Tay, anything is possible. But everybody is happy to "kiss her butt and show the proper deference to Queen Tay-Tay". How would Jackie stand out from the crowd?

How would Jackie stand out from the crowd? Most of the girls in Taylor's squad are established stars and by now kiss her butt in a matter-of-fact manner. Jackie has wanted to be one of the "popular girls" for so long she would kiss her butt with great enthusiasm. She just has to be willing to be humiliated by Taylor on occasion and never get on her bad side. The perks include being brought on stage to sing with her (but never show her up - make an off key note now and then) and getting access to some good songwriters and producers. If she's really good at her butt kissing, she might even get to be a "featured artist" on one of Taylor's singles. Being one of Queen Tay-Tay's lackies did wonders for Selena Gomez's music career.

This is where it is not a bad idea for young celebrities parents to have their own site and put their views out on polarizing subjects. Most people will just think someone that is 15 is more than likely just following their parents views any ways.

Sadly I'm not surprised by her position on abortion which I happen not to agree with.

If they're asked about their views on a certain subject, fine, otherwise, STHU. They always come off, as far as I'm concerned, like they think that because they're celebrities they're better than everyone else and their views are more important than the views of people who aren't well known, or because they're celebrities everyone should care what they think because they act, sing or dance for a living. Big deal! I don't care what any of them think, whether I to agree with them or not.

However, with the subject of Grace's post, it isn't a matter of being a celebrity or not. The point appears to be that the opinions of those who have a uterus carry more weight than the opinions of those who don't have a uterus. So, before deciding whether you agree or don't agree, you might ask yourself, "do I have a uterus?" www.istandwithpp.org/bans-off-my-body?fbclid=IwAR0f7DHwHPhcC3uUeHyPlKrMw-UvbLQLGrPgcM6IQcNIerYWmxWQBy3AWX4Quote: Sign the Petition: Keep Your Bans Off My Body Our bodies are our own — if they are not, we cannot be truly free or equal. Across the country, some politicians are trying to make decisions about our bodies for us. We won’t let the abortion bans sweeping the country put our lives and futures at risk, and we won’t be silenced while our fundamental right to control our bodies is taken away. Everyone deserves health care that's free of shame, stigma, or judgment. Together, we say: Get your bans off my body!
