This is the main discussion forum.
The objective of this forum is to replace the Jackie Evancho forum on Amazon when all Amazon forums are discontinued. This forum will be mostly un-moderated. All posts of every kind are welcome, as they were on Amazon, other than illegal posts and posts that violate the policies of Proboards (our host). Posts are welcome from fans, antifans, haters, lovers, trolls, Crusaders, cesspool waders, window lickers, court jesters, angels and Klingons. Posts are welcome on all subjects of interest, relevant or otherwise.
The fact that Amazon and Rick's forum successfully ran in parallel for so long suggests to me the need for a music critics' forum. Rick's is a fan forum. This forum, like Amazon, is not.
This forum is not intended to compete with Rick's forum but to complement it. Rick's forum avoids controversial issues such as politics, religion, and criticism of Team E. This forum was created to host controversial issues, as well as non-controversial issues. This forum can also be used to reply to posts in Rick's forum if it is felt that the reply would be too controversial for Rick's forum.
Posters are welcome to posts as guests, or take advantage of the benefits of registration.
I have started the discussion by copying a few messages from the last few days of Amazon UK.
All suggestions on running this forum are welcome. Please publicize this forum to others who may be interested.

While Jackie absolutely has one of the finest voices ever to grace a stage, and is otherwise a VERY enjoyable performer, that's NOT what this forum is likely to be about today. Today, her voice has almost nothing to do with this forum. Amazon US did such a lax job of administering this forum, Perma-trolls infested the US version of Amazon, driving off Jackie's many original fans. The US versions have been shut down as a result? We have even had a poster or two who are here solely because AMAZON US has tolerated perma-trolls. If this forum was shut down, Fans will have other places to go, but the perma-trolls would be left behind. If you are new to Jackie and her voice, you'd be better off reading this forum with a large grain of salt. All the insults and attempts at character assassination will drive you crazy. IF you want to know more about Jackie, you will do better to try elsewhere. Wikipedia has an EXCELLENT article on Jackie Evancho. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_EvanchoIf you have read this far, you would ask "Why are you and all the others still here?" Answer: Her voice is really that special. This has been a good place for links and news. Beyond that, a bit of pain goes along with anything worthwhile.

Posted on 4 Oct 2017, 15:03:55 BST Skylark says: It is I, Skylark, bidding farewell to the Amazon forums, which were, at one time, an interesting and informative place to visit once or twice a day. They have sadly become nesting places for those who dislike JE and/or her family - those who enjoy tweaking, torturing, and insulting Jackie's fans. These master baiters ( MB's for short) must have so little else in their lives that they have spent untold hours in front of their computers posting anti-Jackie comments. BTW, it has been useless for the real fans to respond, and respond, and respond. It only eggs the MB's on. For the past few months, I have been able to scroll past all the posts in a few minutes.....nothing to see there.
I have just joined Rick's forum, where I expect to look in from time to time, post rarely, and enjoy any new information about Jackie and her music.

A "real fan" is one who seeks only favorable comments. Amazon, being a music critic's forum, is not such a place. You'll be much happier at one of many fan forums, such as Rick's forum.
I, on the other hand, enjoy reading many diverse views so I will miss the Amazon forums when they close.

In reply to an earlier post on 5 Oct 2017, 00:51:32 BST Anonymous says: No one in their right mind would ever spend millions and millions hoping for 100K sales, but promotion and publicity do make a difference. However, Jackie's been very lucky because between having Juliet for a sister and the Inauguration, which got her almost as much publicity as her AGT audition, Jackie has had a ton of publicity, and it was free. Aside from coming up with a song that really takes off and like you said, more touring, I just don't know what else she can do. She could do more with social media, but aside from that I think they've probably done the best that they can do to keep her name out there.

In reply to an earlier post on 5 Oct 2017, 01:14:08 BST Anonymous says: Whether or not Juliet's presence has helped or hindered Jackie's career is debatable, but what's not debatable is that it was Juliet who got Jackie a lot of TV appearances and interviews. Those appearances and interviews got her face out there and her name out there again, and she wouldn't have had them without Juliet. She's the one who's news now.

Posted on 5 Oct 2017, 01:28:54 BST M.Sims says: They mutually benefited from going public. It helped Juliet's cause, which was the bathroom lawsuit. Juliet's modeling career is also taking off and it boosted Jackie's media profile. Its a long ways from the 60's and 70's when Rock Hudson kept being gay a secret. Id ask Rick, would you care if lets say Elvis had a Gay Brother?

In reply to an earlier post on 5 Oct 2017, 01:40:26 BST Anonymous says: That's true, Rick, he wouldn't have broadcast it for his sake and for his brother's sake. In the 60's and 70's a lot of people probably would have cared if Elvis had a gay brother, but times have changed. And I doubt that many people care that Jackie has a transgender sister, but it seems like a lot of people do care that she's become such a prominent fixture in Jackie's career and I can appreciate that. But except when she's preforming a song from a new album, Jackie wouldn't have gotten a lot of the interviews she's done, or the TLC special without Juliet and that has to be taken into consideration.

Your post, in reply to an earlier post on 5 Oct 2017, 03:02:15 BST Last edited by you 14 hours ago socalfan says: M.Sims says: Its people who see her albums in stores, performing on tv, and go to her concerts that's her audience. Its certainly not just the outspoken demanding ones online. Is that how you see it?
These days, all the components need to work together in synergy. Fans watch the music video on Youtube, which causes them to listen to the song on Spotify and buy the single or album, which causes them to follow their performer on social media, which causes them to attend the concert, which whets their appetite for the next music video. That's how top pop/rock/country musicians attract and keep their fans.
Very few popular singers can succeed without doing all of the above well. Jackie's weakness is Youtube, streaming audio and social media. Time will tell if she can somehow overcome that.
M.Sims says: She does have label support, they released SAC and 2H, I think another album will happen at some point, perhaps later in 2018.
The inauguration publicity boosted SAC sales so her label released 2H. But the sales of 2H, which came only 2 months after her inauguration publicity, must have been a disappointment. Her label must be wondering what sales of her next album will be like WITHOUT the inauguration publicity. If I recall correctly, 2H was a one-off deal; there may not be a next album, unless it is independently released.

Posted on 5 Oct 2017, 14:46:42 BST Friday Bridge says: john ford 9 months ago Everyone talks about Jackie being a Angel and I believe they are 100% right. Here is my proof, I'm a disable Vet. and have been living with pain for 41years. The VA gives me Meds. ( a lot of Meds. ) but after all this time they don't help all that much. I'm watching AGT one night and along comes this 10yo little girl who looked like an Angel and she opened her mouth and out came this Beautiful sound, and for 3 or 4 minutes I almost forgot I was in pain. I listened to every one of her performances and each time, as she was singing most of my pain was almost gone. After that day I would buy every bit of music that she put out and find every Performance that was out on youtube and to this day whenever I hear her my pain is less. So to sum it up, she looks like an Angel, she sings like an Angel, she's as sweet as an Angel, and she helps take away pain. To me she is an ANGEL and that's why I will Always Love this Young Lady because she Is my Angel. Thank you Jackie Evancho. PS - I am putting this on every Jackie video that I can find so maybe it will get to her somehow so she will know how much I Thank Her.

In reply to an earlier post on 5 Oct 2017, 16:23:38 BST julia trenholm says: Well, Rick, whose fault was it that Jackie was presented that way on GUE? They saw the script and, I assume, the final cut. The idea of GUE was to get a TV series for the whole family and advance their income. Lisa has had her eyes on Kris Jenner's success for years, particularly when it became apparent that the new wave music business was not going to appreciative of Jackie's old school, pop classics repertoire
