You have a habit of replacing the actual context with one you think supports your position (msims note: its called quoting), but, unfortunately for you, everyone can go back to my original posts and see the real context. This was my discussion of Jackie being proficient at bass and how I never had seen her that proficient on an instrument previously. Furthermore, I never stated proficiency on an instrument was important for a vocalist - I stated it was important as a songwriter. The fact that you can blatantly misrepresent the context of the conversation demonstrates how desperate are your delusions. "everyone can go back to my original posts" you should have then explained: you click on the time stamp but you didn't say this is how you find my op or go to: jackie-amazon.proboards.com/post/91098/threadThe very nefarious thing I am guilty of is: highlight words you said as theres a box that says Quick Quote, anyone who is registered can use that feature. If you have a problem with the Quick Quote or your posts being quoted, you should take it up the real Admin of this forum: I did not see the Zoom you mentioned so how could I be projecting by pointing out I did not know what she said at that live and you did and still provided no more information than what I did? Theres alot everyone doesn't know because as shes admitted she just wasnt good at social media for a number of years and ill tell you: her communication with fans neither. It also doesn't help that the interviewers ask her the same questions and her answers tend to be generic, so we only get bits and pieces. So you probably wouldn't know if she has practiced the piano anyway or any instrument so I was surprised when Greg said that played instruments on Solla. Specifically what I don't recall, I didn't record it and neither did donkey. Jackie never expressed any previous interest in Joni Mitchell See above. Molin gave an interview discussed on this board about how much he disliked singers with no track record of songwriting thinking they could write their own songs. Did he mention Jackie or was he being passive aggressive? Why work with Jackie then? We all know Jackie is not a confrontational person and was going through a rough period of her life. She simply was not someone who was capable of standing up for herself. She said she used to be that way. As an adult dealing with producers, she must had to have learned something over the years. Look at the evidence. Lisa said over the years that she had written "all these amazing songs." Jackie herself said she had been writing all along. Are you going to tell me she didn't have at least a few songs to use and they couldn't come with some professional songwriters IN NASHVILLE to get in a room with Jackie and come up with more? One of the songs from Solla was written years ago according to Jackie. I'm not buying it. This was Mollin's idea and Jackie was not in any emotional shape to fight for what was promised to her. There is a more simple boring explanation. After TMS at the end of the year she released River, one song. Her social media numbers increased but then around that time Lisa made that famous rant. We are now in 2022 and she doesn't seem to have a full albums worth of original material that was finished (Consequences she wrote when she was 15) and like you said whether Fred was comfortable or not (I didn't realize he was in any position of power you didn't remind me of that in your OP). But im sure he had other projects to move on to. What is rarely taken into consideration is that musicians have other opportunities and projects they have as well and only so much time to dedicate to one project. Greg is still touring with his band. It seems they had to compromise on an album of covers as a cover album takes little time to record and release and have something out there to tour on. That is the typical CC thing. This was verified by your own sources such as Greg Camp so I don't know why you keep insisting otherwise other than willful ignorance. I know. A major label could also with hold money from going to the artist for any reason under the sun. This clip is time stamped where The Black Keys goes on to explain that they were only given a small portion of the money owed to them by their label (and they talked to the spotify ceo):

I will believe Jackie actually knows how to play a musical instrument when I see her playing onstage live, on multiple songs, not just a few memorized bars and snippets. Good for her if she's taking it seriously and putting in the hours learning to play these instruments and developing musicianship. Still I will believe it when I see it.

Jackie doesn't have any above average ability with instruments that I've ever seen. I'm glad she is having fun with her bass guitar, but I think she is probably doing as well as any 24 year old with an interest in it would have. Also, she has had trouble focusing on singing in the past while playing an instrument. I don't see the instrument thing going anywhere with Jackie as far as her professional career is concerned. And that's no big deal...she's a singer. That's her talent.

I disagree I think Jackie can get good at playing the guitar 🎸! It would add spice to future concerts!

I disagree I think Jackie can get good at playing the guitar 🎸! It would ass spice to future concerts! All the power to her. The guitar is one of the easier instruments to learn on a basic, functional level.

I don't know what complications might have been involved, but IMO, Jackie would have been better served making an album with a variety of songs from a hodgepodge of artists rather than just Joni Mitchell songs. She could have included music from Barbara Streisand, Joni Mitchell, Karen Carpenter, Sarah Brightman, Carly Simon and/or male artists as well. That kind of album likely would have had more universal appeal. Before COT, I could not name one Joni Mitchell song off the top of my head IMO, part of what hurt CoT was the delay. If it had come out when one might have originally expected, it would have at least caught a wave of attention for Joni Mitchell over something (maybe 50 year anniversary of one of her early hits, I don't recall what it was). That would have helped some, not a lot. If someone wants Joni, they want Joni. Otherwise they probably remember a cover version of BSN, and don't know much if anything else Joni did. Not saying there was anything wrong with the execution of CoT (I like it just fine for something based on a style that I'm mostly not crazy about), but the choice, combined with the delay, wasn't IMO helpful. As you suggest, if doing covers, then a collection of say ballads and folk not limited to one original artist would make more sense.

Most people no longer whip out a pen and start writing sheet music. Indeed, I suspect even those capable of that work it out on something like a piano first, esp. since a keyboard can also be input to digital audio workstation software. On stage, something more portable like a guitar might be more useful. But then you have to be better with it, and able to sing and play at the same time without either interfering with the other.

Since the off-topic board has become the new Politics forum, I'll post this here because it's about Jackie but useful for anyone who wants to understand what an aspiring bass player might have to look forward to.
This guy is not giving a lesson, he's previewing what a 30-minute practice session might look like if you're serious about playing bass. He assumes no more than beginner level here, but he approaches this video as a "here's what you can expect" if you follow a routine like this. Everything he says about the things you'll need to know are spot-on, and he's very gentle yet straight-forward and realistic about what it takes to get better.
I recommend watching this for a better understanding of why lessons are important to know as a musician, and why you cannot wave off the fundamentals of scales, chords, arpeggios, and all the basic etceteras of the "T" word (theory) IF you have the desire and the drive to be a better player. You don't have to follow his courses (and he says as much).
Personal Tip: One thing I noticed about Jackie's video of her playing the bass: her fingers are a mile away from the strings. Fingers should be relaxed and ready just above the fretboard (see any guitar player for example). This is why I am sure she hasn't learned much (or at least hadn't by the time she posted that video).
